In wine there's truth but in silence there's surrender.

nevermind that was a lot of panic for a simple solution

For the most part yes. I intend to OC this thing pretty heavily (if it can take it) and was either going to get a base model and watercool it, or just a nice air cooler. Depending on one's expertise with computers, I would always suggest standarad air cooling.

@Kezia, if you don't mind post what your problem was and how you solved it. Perhaps someone else was having a similar issue and was unable to arrive at a proper conclusion?

What's so special about the Vapor-X version?
I think it's just better cooling.

unplugged all my drives so that i could re-arrange the cables but when i plugged them back in i couldn't get past the bios screen without getting the error "reboot and select a proper boot device". turns out i was getting that because i forgot to plug the second drive in that was previously not even in use. i couldn't boot into the main OS drive without plugging the second one in.

Was your OS on the second drive? If so there's the actual problem.

i have windows 7 on the first drive and a corrupted windows 8 on the second. i've been meaning to format the second one for a while now so that i can do a backup but for some reason windows won't let me format. it's like it needs that drive connected in order to boot correctly.

That's kind of awkward lol. When was the last time you tried formatting it?

week or two ago. i think it just has to do with windows not wanting to format a drive which includes OS files on it, but i could be wrong. still no luck finding a solution online

It has vapour chambers.

The AMD stock coolers for the 7970 and 7950 have liquid chambers but I'm not entirely sure.

Try manually deleting the OS and then formatting. It will give you a warning before you delete OS files.

How are you going about this? You are trying to format the second drive from the first, right?

Why not try inserting a Windows install disc and try formatting from that instead?

How are you going about this? You are trying to format the second drive from the first, right?
Yeah through Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc). The second disk is set to dynamic by the way.

Try going to Computer, then right-click on the drive, and click "Format...". Share results.

Has anyone here had any luck with Lucid's VirtuMVP? I might consider using it to accelerate video transcoding.

It has the ability of utilising the built-in GPU of Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge CPUs to bolster the discrete GPU in gaming. For that purpose, it's a hit or miss, some games get some performance benefits and some not.

I mainly intend to use it to enable Intel's Quick Sync while still using the discrete GPU.

I have only heard good things about it. HD 4000 is ~2x faster than a GTX 670 when rendering if I remember correctly.

Yeah the 670 was as fast as the CPU (i5 3570K), the drivers must have been -blam!-illy optimized for that program.

Same result as what I did above. I might just have to hook it up to another computer and format it that way...

I thought you had the 3570K? I don't know how HD 2500 preforms.

I have the 3470. The HD 2500, performance-wise, is similar to the HD 3000.

But it does have Quick Sync.
