V-sync locks your frame rate at your monitor's refresh rate, which is typically 60 Hz unless you have a 120 Hz monitor.
Guess you're stuck with V-sync unless you have a NVIDIA Kepler card which supports adaptive v-sync but you have to enable it via the NVIDIA Control Panel. Adaptive v-sync only enables v-sync if the frame rate exceeds your monitor's refresh rate.
I enable v-sync in games, the tearing is unbearable.
Very. My only option left then is to play with "high" settings with vsync. I don't mind, just wanted more info about it. Also, my screen tears even when surfing the web (when I scroll down, it creates the tear). Could it be a monitor problem?
