OP, I think you've missed out the Mac section.

GET THE -blam!- OUT OF THIS THREAD.

No, am I not allowed to voice my opinions? What is this, the holocaust?

Well, when you can legally build your own Mac, you're more than welcome to suggest it in this thread.

When PCs > Macs, there will be no need for such a section. Until then, a section is mandatory.

When buying the power supply for a dual graphics card setup, do you need a supply with the combined required wattage requirement of both or is there some middle ground? For example if you are using two graphics cards with a minimum wattage requirement of 250 watts each do you need a power supply that puts out a minimum of 500 watts?

You will need more than 500 watts. Things like the cpu also use power. Use a power supply calculator like this. Also make sure the power supply is 80+. Check this helpful guide that I acquired courtesy of the /g/entoomen.

Guys,

I'm buying the rest of my parts Thursday. I need to narrow down a wireless USB adapter/wireless PCI card like, nao. Is this good?

This one is better (faster).

Thanks.

Is there anything else I should know about installing this part before I do anything else, other than installing the OS first?

Not really....but you may want to look up a video on how to install a PCI wireless card. It's fairly straight forward, but the video will be there in case you need it.

*sorry for the repost...*

Can someone have a look at my build please and tell me if there are any areas you would either improve on or shave off?

It's my first ever build and am desperate for some feedback. I would like to max Battlefield 3 and Skyrim, and would prefer not to have to upgrade for at least 5 years.

Also, I am physically building this myself as a hobby - so any advice would be great!

I've found that Intel processors preform better than AMD processors. If you can spare the extra money, I'd recommend an i5-2500k.

That was my second choice...but I went more more cores for a similar price.

In what way are Intel better? Quicker? Or more applications at once? Quieter?

Assuming I have a setup that can run BF3 smoothly now, how long can it last (assuming no external damage or hardware failure) before I have to upgrade it if I'm a gamer?

From what I've seen, they perform better, they're of a higher quality, and run cooler. And CPUs don't make any noise.
The 2500k has 4 cores, but it outdoes the FX-6200.

Depends on the level of quality your parts have. You could have a really cheap build that runs BF3 smoothly, but would stop working within 1.5 years. Or, if you paid a decent amount for your build, you could have something that should last anywhere between 6-10+ years.

Ok cheers bro.

Like I said I actually had a build with the i5-2000k in it but presumed bigger meant better and swapped it out for the AMD.

It depends on how you're playing BF3 now. If you're playing it on lower settings smoothly, and you can't go any higher, then you might need one soon. But if you're playing it on higher settings smoothly, you might not need one for a couple of years. I guess it just depends on how good you want your games to look.

More cores =/= Better processor, the i5 2500k far outdoes the FX Series by AMD in most respects.

e.g, it's like 4 supercars vs 8 slightly crappier ones.

This....but the only FX CPU that is better than the 2500K is the 8150....

Building a day trading computer ( a little bit of gaming) and here's the build. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/a2RN

Any suggestions to make it cheaper/better? (would like to have 4 monitors max, maybe expansion for more)

Your a day trader? That's awesome! Are you in Chicago or New York? Most of my family works for trading firms.
