If the gtx 550ti is a cheap bundle with the PSU than go with that. If it's not a bundle deal you can still use that PSU with a 6850 and you will actually save wattage probably.
Okay that sounds good. I am guessing this is the 6850? I maybe able to do it if I have some money left over. And the PSU would be fine is what I think your getting at? Seems like a great card from research I have done!

Okay so I keep noticing that people pick the Intel processors over the AMD processors all the time, because they say Intel processors have better performance
But look at the i5-2500k versus the Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition

The Intel i5 2500k
Versus
The Phenom II 965 Black
I mean is it just me or does the phenom have pretty much equivalent specs for half the price? It's making it hard for me to believe that an i5 is worth a hundred more. Especially since I'm trying to do the highest performance budget build possible.
So, flood. Are there performance capabilities that aren't being reflected on the specs on paper, or is everyone just hating on AMD because they've had a few bad products?

Mmmm like 85/100. Why do you want an aftermarket CPU cooler if you aren't going to overclock? Why no SSD? Other than than very good.

And I'm not too tech savy, but how are you going to run 4x RAM modules, and unless you do heavy video/photo editing 16GB RAM is wayy more than you need.

While we're on this topic how does my build look?

I figured I would upgrade to a nice SSD after I could gain some more funds, And I currently I have no idea how to overclock haha.

I am trying to gain some more info So when I do buy the parts I will build it correctly.

If you won't, and don't know how to overclock, there is no point (To the small extent on my knowledge) in getting an aftermarket CPU fan. Your CPU should come with one. If you are going to buy a SSD I would think you should buy it now. I don't know, but I'm sure it must be a pain to reinstall you OS to another drive. Speaking of which what OS are you going to use?

I own an un-used windows 7 64bit professional.

And I plan on over-clocking when I do finally buy the parts, But For now I am trying to figure out how.

People tend to (Myself included) think Intel are more reliable and perform, but I don't know that from experience, however I think there may have been test that prove Intel is better than AMD. If you are on a budget go with AMD, my laptop has an AMD CPU, and I find it to be fine(I have had it for 6 months now with two crashed, one graphics related, the other USB).

Everything is interesting if you go into it deeply enough.

What would you rate this build on a scale of 1/100?
Power supply is a bit overkill, and unless you need hyperthreading I'd get the 2500(k) or the new Ivy Bridge equivalent.

edit: And if you plan to overclock, you'll want the unlocked processor (any one that ends with a K).

Bigger is better ;P, and I will use the optical drive to install my OS, and maybe some other things. Disc drives are becoming unnecessary it seems.

Yes, but I won't use it so. Meh. Maybe later after I build it.

I would give it a OH HELL NO. You can easily cut the price of that build.

Want me to make you a new build with a $1,500 price range? And does the build have to include an OS, monitor, mouse, and keyboard?

Sure, Have at it haha.

Give me about 30-45 minutes to post a new build.
