Alright guys. $300 for a video card, what should I get? This is for 720p gaming by the way. I don't have a 1080p monitor.

Quad-SLI 690's
:/

Anyway, I was looking at a Radeon 7950.

Ok serious time....a 660 Ti.
Why not a 660 and then overclock to a Ti? Shaves off about $50.

Because the more you overclock....the more you lessen said product's life span....or really the life span of your computer in general.

EDIT: And what Avenge said below me.

They have different GPUs.

The 660 Ti is based on the 670 GPU. The 660 is based around a different GPU altogether.

My parts in a new Phantom 410 case

Sorry the pictures suck, I only have the camera on my phone.
How's the cases cable management? I'm thinking about picking it up on Sunday.

Also, 7950 or 670?
Well, they are both really good cards. Get the 670 if you really want PhysX.

The 7950 is cheaper than the 670 and to get 3 or maybe 4 gaems.
I'll probably get the 7950 because I hear it can be as good or better than a 680 when overclocked, plus, with the 100 I save, I could get a SSD.

Also, another comparison: P8Z77-V LK or ASRock Z77 Extreme4? The P8Z77-V LK is only 59, while the Extreme 4 is 75.

Wow, that is incredibly cheap for motherboards.

Not sure, the ASRock mobo has more SATA III ports but I doubt you'll be connecting more than 2.

Umm, I'd get the ASUS. You can probably spend the extra $$ on something else perhaps?

ASUS's lower end boards are pretty bad for overclocking compared to AsRock, and they also use lower-quality solder. AsRock hand tests all of their motherboards with Prime95 to make sure that they run well, so that makes them seem more dependable.

If we were talking 180+, ASUS would be much better, but at this price point, go with the Extreme4.

Really now? I didn't know this. I guess I'll go with the Asrock then, as it's almost $40 off.

By the way, whoever asked where the deals were, Microcenter.

I still can't believe I'm getting a 3570k for only $169.

Wargamer, Microcenters website it bad, people in store have told me this. Check their online sales catalog, otherwise, in store is really the only way to know.

Are there any necessary additions to a computer other than the main components? Like a fan controller or something?

You don't need an SSD unless you're planning to install a server or a database.
Also, you don't need that i7 CPU.
Get the i5 3570k, it's a great CPU.

Most games on high settings. What resolution? I also recommend getting Windows 7 if you don't easily adapt to change. I'm loving 8, more so than 7, but it is very different.

You could play virtually everything out there with those specs. I might opt for a slightly better graphics card though, the 660 Ti or the 670 will do nicely.

idk, the guy said this in the email "The other thing I have added is a Solid State HDD , these drives have a lot faster Read and Write times than the regular HDDs and really help
With the speed when gaming. Then you just use the regular HDD to store all your files"

also what is wrong with i7? is it just overkill?

Yes, it's overkill.
You don't need an SSD unless you want to use it as a server/database.
As when you delete files in regular HDD, it uses a magnet and the file is gone.
Now, SSD just writes over the file.
Imagine, a chalk board that is get written over and written over, it gets dirty. The speed of the SSD wears off in time, and you just wasted alot of money for a small HDD.
Invest the rest of the money in the GPU and get the 670OC edition.

By speed when gaming he means less time on a loading screen, not better performance. And no, you may as well get the i7 considering it will last you quite a few years if you don't overclock.
