I was considering upgrading my motherboard to the P8Z68, but I think I'll wait for a couple years to get Haswell, since Broadwell or whatever it is coming after it will possibly be soldered onto the motherboards, but who knows.
The 2011 socket Broadwell CPUs won't be soldered onto the motherboard.
Looks like socket 2011 is the new gaming standard! LolSocket 2011 is that monster i7 socket, right? Possibly future intel processors as well?
Yup....socket 2011 is the highest end of Intel CPUs.
Socket 2011 will have a long life span....like socket 1366. Socket 1366 was introduced years ago and it's still in use today....and it most likely will continue to be used for many more years to come.
So if socket 1366 has had such a long life span so far....imagine how long of a life span socket 2011 will have. It'll be a long time before socket 2011 dies off. Yeah, but nodody uses 1366 for a gaming build. 2011 does have the continued lifespan for now, but like in the links Fluffy posted the later 2011 CPUs could be irreplaceable. But it's not for certain, so we'll just have to wait and see.
