Guys, I plan on buying this pre-built, what should I change about it all the while keeping it under $1,000? If we can get it to run games at a higher graphics setting, that'd be cool too.

You don't need much.

Maybe opt for a 7850 or GTX 560Ti for some good budget friendly performance. And get 8GB of RAM. You don't really need to do that much with the processor, though, if you want to spend another $50 for the 8150, knock yourself out.

All I can afford is to upgrade to the 7850 unfortunately...

With that said, will the PC like, burn out? I've heard stories of people having their PC's get really hot and loud.

I need a new graphics card for gaming
I have a ATI Radeon HD 4200 and around $700 to spend, although I would prefer something much cheaper

Any suggestions?

Thing can be upgraded and reworked for like the next 6 to 7 years, best thing about a PC.

It was worth ever single penny, I researched for a long time on how to squeeze out ever ounce of performance for my dolor.

How do people have quad channel RAM is for say a i7 3770K which only supports dual channel RAM?
They can't. The only socket that can so far is LGA2011. The desktop processors available for that socket are the i7 3820, 3930k and the 3960x.

And the 3770 and 3770k.
...

Ok, I'll bite. How'd you come up with that?

I need a new one, too. I've been looking at the EVGA GTX 670 FTW for a little while. Only just came out very recently, and seems to be very good value. Even performs slightly better than the GTX 680 and better than the 7970.

Like I said eariler, I'mma get this Pre-built and as suggested, I'm going to amp up the GPU to a r7850. Is this all good? It's not going to fry or anything?

We don't like pre-builts around here, but seriously that site is too messy for me to look at. It shouldn't as long as you have good components.

And would it be a good idea to wear latex or rubber gloves while putting together a computer? Would it prevent static electricity from being transmitted, and prevent the parts from being contaminated by your hands?

Well, the latter, yes. But that doesn't really matter. Just try not to touch the golden contacts on components too much and it should be fine.
As for ESD protection, what you want is an anti-static wrist-strap. Or, you could just keep yourself grounded by touching an un-painted, metal part of your case every now & again (like after you move around, and before you touch a component).

Why pre-built? Are you afraid of the computer winding up fubar if you try to build it yourself?

It has a 700 watt PSU. My PC has roughly the same power load and I'm on a 600 watt. It'll be perfectly fine.

I doubt heat will be a major issue. If you're really concerned, you can grab that better fan for $9.

Have you guys tried building the most cost effective PC yet? Like, super cheap yet super effective?

Or, have you guys tried to build a PC that has a lot of potential. Like at the start, it's not much but you can always improve it.

From personal research, and from a lot of guys in this thread's personal experience, I would swap out the CPU to an Intel, as they run smoother and cooler and have more oomph.

Intel Quad Core > AMD Hex Core
