RAM:
32GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz

I'm no expert on computers, but this seems pretty excessive.

8GB is all that you need. Any more than that is overkill....unless you're video editing.
Or mass photo manipulation, or similar parallel operations.

I've personally run out of memory resizing 2000 2560*1440 pictures with convert (used 16GB of RAM and 15GB swap space).

Hey, it's always alright to have a bit extra, am I right?
I'll be able to run intensive games fairly decently.
And yes, video editing with HQ will be a function of the computer.

When your current PC can't even play a game like Quantum Conundrum, or has a download time for a game demo of 5 and a half hours, you need an upgrade.

32 Gigs should do the trick.

So I am trying to use an older drive from a 7-8 year old computer as a secondary HDD to the one I plan to use as the :C, and it does not fit in any of the drive bays (it fits physically, but no screws match up with it). What would be the best way, if possible, to have it in my case?

I'm not sure getting a very high-end computer would solve that problem...

You need to make sure you can secure the device so that it won't shake or rattle when in use. It's kind of odd that the drive won't line up with the screws (is it a 3.5" HDD?). You might look into padded tape of sorts to secure it if needed.

It's 4x5.75". Really weird.

I still have yet to hear a concrete answer as far as transferring a HDD with Win7 already on it to a new mobo will cause problems. Would it be better to uninstall the OS and all of my other stuff and then reinstall it on the new computer? I don't want to buy a new disc for this.

Well, it should still be possible to use the OS on the hard drive already, but I wouldn't recommend it. I would install it fresh as the drivers for the old hardware will be annoying to get rid of while getting the new ones in place.

Ok.. Still really confused about all of it.

Generally you'll want a fresh install of the OS you plan to use. This is because it will be installed with the new hardware so there aren't any fragments lying around of the old hardware to break things (potentially).

Also, have you checked to see if your HDD fits in a 5.25" bay slot (like your CD drive)?

That's where I plan to put it.. It doesn't have any screws that will work so I plan to just pad/tape it in.

It could help a bit, besides, the main purpose would be gaming and video editing. My Java and Flash would NEVER run out of memory.

Besides, the type I listed is quite cheap compared to many others I have seen, only a bit more than $200. With those prices, it's okay to go a bit overkill.

The slowest parts of any computer are its external connections so making the internal connections faster won't have any impact on the external.

I recently dropped $2400 on my build, but I'd be silly to say it was because I wanted my download speeds faster. ;)

Honestly, the most complicated part about building a PC to me seems to be connecting all of the power cables..

There's just so many of them...

Eh, that's what playing Xbox will do while downloads go on :P
Hey, can anyone recommend a better graphics card? Money is no big issue, just nothing that's like, $1000 or anything silly like that.

Yeah, I'm about to build a computer for the first time soon, and that's really the only part I'm worried about.

Installing the CPU with an after market heatsink was what I was most worried about, and it did in fact end up being the most difficult part of the build. (I've done many of the other things before so I have had experience with installing PSUs, cards, etc...)

I have the GTX 670 and I've been enjoying it so far.

Speaking of CPU fans, does this CPU come with a cooler?

That one should come with a stock fan.

Edit: Are you wanting to go with PCI-e 3.0?

So I went to all kinds of store and guess what they're selling?
PC's with touch screen. Same thing applies for the laptop. So Help me find a decent computer without touch screen!
I have 1,600$ budget.

Are you willing to build, or are you just looking for pre-builts?

I don't want the touch screen on my computer. If that's what you are asking?
Pre-builted.

Just wanted to let you guys know that iBUYPOWER is dropping their Independence and letting you snag some of their product on the cheap.

This goes for the guy that wanted a pre-built as well, seeing that iBUYPOWER is pretty much all that.

Keep in mind that it's much better just to build your own. Their rigs are laughable in comparison to what you could build.

Personally, I recommend Thinkpads, especially the T series. You can do a decent amount of customization when making your order, they have a couple different processors, choice of built-in graphics or an actual card, and lots of other things.[/url]

The T series is really known for it's durability too.

Ah, the internet. Where men are men, women are men, and children are the FBI.

Gots another question. Ive decided to sell my current computer case that I have had for a whole like 2 weeks, to upgrade to one that has better cable management (i.e. that whole fake back to them thing).

Any suggestions? Preferably under $100. And with a see through side panel to see all the pretty insides (as I am overly concerned with the aesthetic aspect)

Bonus points if it is a weird looking/excessively badass looking case.
