Gots another question. Ive decided to sell my current computer case that I have had for a whole like 2 weeks, to upgrade to one that has better cable management (i.e. that whole fake back to them thing).

Any suggestions? Preferably under $100. And with a see through side panel to see all the pretty insides (as I am overly concerned with the aesthetic aspect)

Bonus points if it is a weird looking/excessively badass looking case.

Not entirely sure about them, but the reviews seem good, so check these out I guess.

Antec Nine Hundred

Raidmax Smilodon

NZXT Apollo
The 900 is a good case. I have it.

New design:
Processor:
Intel i7 3960X 4.0GHz

Graphics Card:
2 EVGA GeForce GTX 670 2048 MB GDDR5

Motherboard:
Asus Rampage Extreme IV

Hard Drives:
256GB Samsung SSD
1TB Storage Drive

RAM:
16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 SDRAM Dual-Channel

Cooling:
Intel Liquid Cooling

Case:
Corsair 800D

Can anybody improve on this design?

Total Cost: $2655
You probably wont need to upgrade anything for like ten years. You have a large SSD, amazing processor, 2 high powered graphics cards.

Damn.

Well, this is just the design. I haven't started on it yet, but I wanted you guys to critique my ideas. I may also throw in some extra cash to get 1 or 2 more graphics cards. In all, this build will be a bit less than $3000.

I may need some time to get that money.

But we do have a safe in the garage that my parents say has a bit of money in there, and that it's all going towards college.

I may have to change their minds a bit...

I hope you're not serious.

You can get a serious gaming rig for less than $600.

What? They also said while it is reserved mainly for college, it can go towards other important things. They would just prefer it not :P
Besides, I was kidding. That money won't be coming any time soon. But for people who have that kind of money could look at my rig for advice.

Also, $600? What can you get for that except a CyberPowerPC? And I hear those have serious bugs.

  • 07.04.2012 5:00 PM PDT

Here are my current system components for my gaming rig:

Motherboard

Tower Case

Processor

Graphics Card

16 Gigs of RAM

Blu-Ray Reader

Wireless Adapter

Monitor

Hard Drive

Power Supply

Based on the information I have given you. What part should I upgrade first? (I would like to keep my RAM, Hard Drive, Blue-Ray Reaer, Wireless Adapter, Power Supply and Monitor) for use in the next PC if POSSIBLE

If I were to answer my question, the motherboard first, right? I'd prefer to keep each individual part to be less than or equal to $250 if possible.

Yes, motherboard first. Then processor, followed by graphics card.

But I'll have to upgrade the rest all at the same time though too.

If you're going to upgrade the motherboard, you'll probably want to upgrade the CPU at the same time so you won't have to install a CPU twice. (And so you don't have to worry about the motherboard working with two processors)

The other stuff you have is fine. The only real things you should upgrade if you want to game, like I said, are the mobo, CPU and GPU. The rest should be compatible.

I'd say case, motherboard, graphics card then processor, if you're gaming, that is.

He doesn't need a new case, though.

Oh, does he mean that's his current plan for a new build? If so, then yeah I'd agree.

Hmm, that is a nice build for my needs. I would maybe add another graphics card and some memory, but that is a very good build nonetheless.
And it's so cheap! We are selling a crap ton of stuff because I recently expanded my room upstairs and I need to get rid of the crap in the other room. This is a good thing about being an only child, you get all the room you need :P
We are splitting the profit, so this build is a possibility. Added this to my link pool :D

Also, I'm getting $100 for my awesome grades, this may be a big winner!

Can anybody recommend a good cooler for that?

Thanks!
In all, that is fairly affordable. With my math, that will be less than $800... I hope.

Didn't I talk to you in your last post? You're going to need to build a whole new computer, or install an extremely small GPU.

What does "suitable" mean? Max settings triple 1080p monitors at 60FPS? Or lower setting one monitor at 30FPS. It's all your preference, and budget.
