Why quad channel RAM? Max i5 supports is dual.

And what are some good 1920x1080 monitors that are 23"-27" budget $250

The only thing I would change is instead of 1 amazing graphics card, such as that, have 2 lower quality cards, like 2 1GB cards. Performance can actually increase when having 2 less powerful cards. It can also save you money, about $40-75 if you get the right cards. My build will consist of 2 1GB Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 cards, which will be even more powerful than the one you noted.

I would suggest you upgrade to an i7 CPU, but that seems to match one almost exactly, except for the fact it's i5.

Also, I hear Western Digitals have some issues that I can't think of off the bat.

Now, I'm not exactly sure, but you may need a bit more than 620 Watts. I would suggest a 650 Watt, or, even better, a 750 Watt. Even if it is a little bit higher than the required Wattage, it's better than having to take everything apart to get the power out, and buy another one.

It would still provide a small power boost, and save him 3 dollars. The more slots you use, the better. I am using 4 sticks of memory in my build, even though dual-channel is the highest it supports. This means, 4 slots can be used, and it will count as 2 dual-channels. So you get a performance increase.

But wouldn't they take up space, create more heat, and draw more power? And do you have to configure that in the BIOS, I might do it.

They are like $75+ more expensive than a i5, and for gaming offer the same performance.

I don't believe you have to configure the BIOS for anything unless you are overclocking or switching between harddrives to boot from.
Memory does not draw a lot of power, for 4 sticks maybe10-25 Watts. If you are using them heavily, maybe a bit more. Also, they don't generate enough heat to cause a problem.
I don't know what you mean by space though. If you mean future upgrades, you could just buy 4 sticks of 6GB or 8GB or higher.

Okay, well while gaming may be it's main function, an i7 will help in the long run, because unless you have 1 computer for gaming and 1 computer for everything else... Well, you get my point.

I don't see how space is an issue, 2 sticks of RAM take up just as much space, except about halved. I don't see how about 5" will make much of a difference.

Also, computers use RAM to a greater effect the more spread out it is. That is why people tell you not to just have 1 stick of, say, 16GB, because performance won't be as good. I'm just suggesting maximum power for an equal price. An i7 costs just as much as what he noted, but I never said he has to take my advice.

I'm just doin' it for the sake of argument! ;) And I'm going to do 4 RAM sticks or my 3770K build, ALOT cheaper!

4 sticks of 2GB Ram would be faster than 2 sticks of 4GB Ram

If you're using 4 sticks, you're taking advantage of dual-channel, a smaller pool of data on each of the 4 pipes would work faster than larger pools.

Because the computer reads dead memory, the computer would read 8gb faster through 4 pipes than reading the same amount on 2.

I didn't realize how much SLI/Crossfire improved the performance. Taking a very low end AMD card, and using Crossfire suddenly allows you to run BF3 on maxed settings. That's...impressive!

However, is it really a better option to play future games than getting a single high end card now? I mean, if I want an nVidia 560 Ti right now, couldn't I just ensure I have an SLI ready MoBo and get another 560 Ti in a year or two if I needed the extra performance for the newer games?

edit: Another question: Are there any external hard drives out there that I could use wirelessly? Like, can I hook it onto my wireless router and have all my computers use it? I can't seem to find one. I find those like Seagates mobile external HDD's, but I'm not sure that's what I'm looking for; I want a stay-at home solution.

I thought you just simply plug in a USB drive into a wireless router (recent routers have USB ports for that function presumably)? The closest that I can think of is Apple's Time Capsule.
