That looks good.

And why does no one, exempt for me, use PCparticker's BBCode markup?

You're not going to be buying all those parts from the website listed, right?

My Microcenter had a deal on your processor, it was like 180 or something like that. Be sure to check out your local computer stores, they tend to have really good deals. Like the 2500K I'm getting; It's on sale at Microcenter for 170, compared to the 200ish on the internet.

I never said I was, I am just using that website to get a parts list.

Ok. I think I've finally got what I'd get...

- I do not plan on over clocking, thus why I don't have a i5 3xxxK CPU, nor do I have a 3rd party heatsink (the one given with the CPU will suffice)
- I chose the ASUS motherboard with SLI capability because it's something I want in the future (dual GeForce 560 Ti cards)
- 850W PSU might be overdoing it, but again, future-proofing this thing a bit.
- SSD is for the OS.
- No mouse because I want to use my Apple magic mouse. I love that thing. Could always change that if needed (cool mouses are hard to find. They're either generic as hell or look like aliens)

So...here's the setup:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-3450 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor ($149.99 @ Microcenter)
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LK ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($128.99 @ NCIX US)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($45.99 @ Newegg)
Hard Drive: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($109.99 @ Newegg)
Hard Drive: Crucial M4 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($116.48 @ Amazon)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB Video Card ($204.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair 400R ATX Mid Tower Case ($89.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: Corsair 850W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($154.99 @ NCIX US)
Optical Drive: Sony AD-7280S-0B DVD/CD Writer ($17.99 @ Amazon)
Monitor: Asus VS228H-P 21.5" Monitor ($129.99 @ Amazon)
Keyboard: Microsoft ANB-00001 Wired Slim Keyboard ($12.98 @ Amazon)
Total: $1162.37
(Prices include shipping and discounts when available.)

The only real lingering questions I have are the motherboard ports (x4 3.0 Gb/s and x2 6.0 Gb/s ports...what does this mean can be plugged in there) and the case drive bays (5.25" and 3.25"...I know the 5.25" are for storing HDD's, but what about the 3.25"'s?)

Those ports are for SATA. Any SATA device will work with those ports, but if you plug a SATA III device into the 3.0 Gb/s, you won't be taking advantage of its transfer speeds. The 6.0 Gb/s port would in this case. SATA II devices work in the 6.0 Gb/s ports, but will only transfer at their respective speeds.

The 5.25" bays are for CD drives and the likes. If you have the SSD, it's most likely a 2.5" drive, and Newegg doesn't seem to list your case having those slots.

Edit: Nevermind, 2.5" slots are mentioned in the details text.

3.5" drives are generally going to be your traditional HDDs.

Thanks! Could I put a SSD on a 3.25" slot though if it didn't have one? Also, what details text are you referring to? I don't see one :|

Only if that slot has the screw holes for a 2.5" drive as well. In your case, Newegg says your case should provide the proper attachments for your SSD using the 3.5" bays.

Ah, the internet. Where men are men, women are men, and children are the FBI.

I gots a problem.

So I just got a new case (phantom 410). Plugged everything in and all, and it works fine. However, once I turn it on, after all loads, a message comes up saying "Warning! Power fan 0 rpm".

Im assuming this is talking about the fan for the PSU?
So to confirm it was working, a took it (the whole power suppl) out with everything plugged in still, turned it on its side, and turned the computer on. And it was spinning. Even when it was put back into normal position, I could feel air coming out the back.

It didnt do this on my other case (cooler master elite 430)
but it does on this one. I was thinking maybe it had to do with the fact that this new case has a fan speed controller built in?

So, anyone know why its yelling at me?

How is the PSU connected to the motherboard? I don't think I've exactly heard of a PSU fan issue before. Also, do you have your case fan controllers connected, or is your setup the same as it was in the other case?

I never said you were either, but it picks the lowest prices online, and I'm assuming some people just buy the parts from each of those websites.

The PSU is connected to the motherboard with a 24? pin connector and another 8 pin one.

As for the case fans, they are all (5 fans) connected to the case fan controller, which I assume is working properly because I can control the fans. Before, I had a fan plugged into the mobo and then two others into the power supply.
