The PSU is connected to the motherboard with a 24? pin connector and another 8 pin one.

As for the case fans, they are all (5 fans) connected to the case fan controller, which I assume is working properly because I can control the fans. Before, I had a fan plugged into the mobo and then two others into the power supply.

Hmm, could you link the PSU that you have? I'm not entirely familiar with ones that have fan header pins on them (or is it just a molex connection?). Also, your case has five fans?

If you have a CD, the product key should be with it. If you have an OEM version, it will be on the sticker you put on the case, if you have an educational version, it might be a sticker stuck to the packaging. I don't know what the normal retail version looks like in terms of packaging, but I'm assuming it's also a sticker placed in the box.

If you still can't find it, you're going to have to buy one.

I am building a computer for my parents. They are primarily going to use it for checking e-mails and opening up Microsoft Word.

Is 8gb of ram and GTX 680 enough?

If I can take you seriously, then yes, that would be overkill for their needs.

First of all.

Why do you need 8Gb or ram for checking emails? You might as well get them 2x2Gb sticks, and the onboard chipset should be enough.

You get a 680 if you want to play BF3 on Ultra or something along those lines.

And yep, 5 case fans in total now.

Guys, is 4 gigs of RAM good enough to run games like Battlefield 3? Also, if someone could explain to me the use of RAM in Video Games, I'd really appreciate it.

I'd be lying if I said I knew what was wrong with your computer, but if you're absolutely sure everything is running properly, see if you can ignore the warning in your BIOS (only do this if you're positive the warning is being falsely triggered). Another thing to try would be to update the drivers for your motherboard and see if that fixes anything.

RAM is an essential part of any computer regardless if you're playing a game. RAM acts as an intermediary device to supply information to the processor as fast as possible. Graphics should tend to rely on the GPU's own VRAM, but eventually it's going to fall back on the RAM should that supply dry up. That's my understanding of how RAM works with games. However, it's simpler to think of it as a large cache.

That should do just fine in most situations. In the case you find yourself wanting more RAM, installing it later is very simple.

Another question from Keiyoti; what's a good sized HDD for someone who's going to be downloading games, yet, is willing to delete them if the HDD gets too full? Can I just get like an (appox) 512 GB?

From what I can tell, you really don't save much between getting a 1 TB HDD or a 512 GB HDD. You can buy a 1 TB HDD for under $100 most of the time. But to answer your question, the 512 GB should probably work out just fine if you don't plan to also save large files along with your video games.
