Yes. If it was that bad no one would do it. Just because of your one bad experience does not mean that it is terrible. I'm sure it is much better with the kepler GPUs and new firmware, however I have no experience, yet.
I'm not saying that my experience is the definitive one, I'm just giving an example so you don't think I'm talking out of my arse. It's generally accepted among knowledgeable users that SLI or Crossfire are not advisable if value your money, time and peace of mind.

It has a lot to do with the very common misconception on what is "future-proof" and how to achieve it. Check it out, yo.

I can't argue with Linus.

So what do you guys think of my build?

That is a very backwards way to list parts, but more on topic what is an "42LV4400"? Is that a television?

Other than that, I don't see anything inherently wrong with your build other than a case. However, if you're so close to getting the GTX 670 why buy the GTX 560?

Who the hell do you think I am?

It was a prebuilt I bought back in February. The case is some custom iBuyPower thing. I was going to build one identical to it, but that went on sale so I said, why not?

And yes, I'm pretty sure that's my TV model, since I'm using my TV as a monitor.

I can't find any ATX mini towers that have 2.5" bays. Is there a work around to this? Would it be possible to somehow fit a 2.5" SSD in a 3.5" bay?

Is this guide directed at building for PC gaming? Haven't went through it yet.

There are adapter mounts you can buy to mount a 2.5' drive in a 3.5' bay.

Why are you looking at Micro-ATX towers? Most mid-tower cases support Micro-ATX. More to your question though, most cases support 2.5" drives in the 3.5" drive bays. Just make sure it says if you can use the 3.5" drive bay for a 2.5" drive.

I'm looking at ATX mini towers, not micro-ATX towers. I need the smaller form factor, as my current PC was made pretty small, and I'm working with the same amount of space. I'm having an especially hard time with depth; a 14" desk (in depth) is what it needs to sit on.

edit: After checking exactly how much space a motherboard takes, 14" is definitely not enough. Damn.

The only other space I have is 18" deep, 11" wide, and 17" high, and that's not counting breathing room on the top.

Wait, I thought the motherboard you had chosen was ATX, and the graphics card you've chosen is a large one too?

Yes. This is a ATX mini tower, it is compatible with ATX mini towers (I am not talking about micro-ATX mini towers).

Ah, sorry about that. I still have "micro" stuck in my head.

Updated build:

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock P67 Extreme4 Gen3 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory
Hard Drive: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: MSI Radeon HD 7870 2GB Video Card
Case: Corsair 600T White Graphite ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: OCZ 700W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply
Optical Drive: LG GH24NS90 DVD/CD Writer

Any suggestions for the monitor? Right now I'm looking at the Asus VS228H-P 21.5" Monitor.

This is my case. Will a 241mm card fit? The lower part, where it says 245mm is available for video cards, correct?

That is correct. Can I have a link to that particular case? I think I have the same case for a computer I have here.

Yeah, that's the one. It's a very small case. I rebuilt a DVR server into it. The old motherboard died, and I only had an ATX board available to replace it. Unfortunately, the original case only supported micro ATX boards, so I found that Cooler Master one.

I just opened it up to check those measurements. Provided that you have a standard sized PSU, your card should fit, but it would be damn close. With the power supply I have in there, the measurement is actually 243-4mm.

Well, my final build is this:

Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/p/bJoC/by_merchant/
Benchmarks: http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/p/bJoC/benchmarks/

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($234.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Motherboard: Asus P8B75-V ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($101.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($46.49 @ Newegg Canada)
Hard Drive: Crucial M4 64GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($74.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Video Card: Zotac GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB Video Card ($169.88 @ Canada Computers)
Case: Cooler Master Elite 360 ATX Mini Tower Case ($39.99 @ NCIX)
Power Supply: Antec 550W ATX12V Power Supply ($68.48 @ Vuugo)
Total: $736.81
(Prices include shipping and discounts when available.)

I believe the card I now have is even smaller, at 210mm. I really appreciate you actually taking the time to check those measurements. Will this final set of parts fit?

edit: The PSU dimensions are 3.4" (H) x 5.9" (W) x 6.1" (D)

That should work. Just be mindful of how much space you'll need for cabling. I just realised it'll probably all have to go around the graphics card, unless they're long enough to go underneath it.

And no worries, I'm here to help! =)

Wait, it has a depth of 6.1"? The PSU I'm looking at has a depth of 5.5"... that could make things difficult.

Eh, looks like it'll still fit. I think. I suck at math. XD

lol, I knew a modular PSU was pretty much required for a such a small case.

As for seeing how cabling will be, I'm going to begin assembly hopefully within the next month. Thanks for the help.
