I'm having an issue with my fans, can someone help? All my fans are working except the front case ones. The case fans have LED lights on them and they turn on when I hook the fan up to the motherboard's 3 pin fan headers, but the fans don't actually run.
Weird. Maybe try them one at a time, on different headers if possible. See if any different combinations work.

Tried 'em one at a time already, no dice. I can't try them on different headers because the cables barely don't reach to the next nearest set of headers.

Huh. Maybe you should get one of those fan controllers and see how that goes. I can't see why it shouldn't work.

I downloaded speedfan and I don't think it's even detecting the fans right. It says one of them (sys fan) is going 0 RPM, but the rest are running. At least two should be at 0 seeing as two of mine aren't running.

The only thing I'm worried about is that it may ahve killed the PSU CPU power cable as we got less then a watt coming out of it, meaning that both PSU's would be dead.
Well I'm no expert on currents, electricity and whatnot, but I think it only delivers as much power as it needs, so it should be normal. I need backing up on this, though.

You probably should unscrew them and try them out on different headers. I don't know what else to recommend, I've never heard of that. Like, LEDs coming on but the fans not running? very odd.

Yeah, it's pretty bizarre. I did at least try a different fan on the same headers and it did work. So the fan itself must be broken, but it's a pretty odd coincidence that both the front fans just so happen to have the exact same problem.

Pretty sure it'd be a motherboard thing. If I were in your position, I'd be trying them on every header =P

I'd think it would be, but another fan worked fine when I tried it in the same headers (the rear fan). I guess I'll try it on a different header tomorrow.

Are they all same brand/model, all 120mm?

  • 07.12.2012 9:17 PM PDT

The ones in question, yeah. There's one top fan that's 140mm and an aftermarket CPU fan I added plus the GPU fans and power supply of course.

The other cables however (The ones connected to my GPU and the 24 pin one) were delievering significant amounts of power though.

I'd expect them to, but idk about the CPU one. I highly doubt the board screwed up your PSUs, but you should probably ask someone else, I'm not really sure on that.

I have a Gigabyte Z79-UD5 mobo, just remembered this issue. For some reason, none of the USB 3.0 ports seems to work. I've installed the drivers both from the disk that came with the mobo, and from Gigabyte's website. I've opened up the case and made sure everything's plugged in. Anyone have a solution?

They all work fine for me.

I think I only installed the drivers from either the CD or their site. CD I think.

But anyway, uninstall it all completely and reinstall with the latest on their site.

Lmao. Nevermind, the fans were working all along, there were just some parts of the case behind them that resembled the fins of a fan and the fans were spinning so fast I didn't notice them. I feel pretty dumb now, lol.

What's up guys. I just realized that I need to be gunning for an even cheaper build, so I pieced one together.

So yeah, is everything good with this build? Another question, could I upgrade this to a HD 7850 without issue?

I need to use my magic on this build...

OS
Case
CPU
Motherboard
GPU
RAM
Hard drive
Optical drive
Power supply

BUILD TOTAL: $647.56 (WITH shipping)

You are welcome my friend, and i'm glad that I could help.
:)

Sweet, thanks man. I think I'm done here, to be honest. Well, done in terms of looking for the best build possible. I'll just stick with what you've built me (thanks, by the way :D) and just go from there.

Thank you very much guys :D
