Ah, the internet. Where men are men, women are men, and children are the FBI.

I have another question.

So I just got my new monitor in today.
So now, I have a total of 3 monitors.

The question I have now, is are all of the monitors supposed to be plugged into the GPU, or should it be split between the GPU and the mobo?

Also, I was planning on using an HDMI cord for the new monitor, and the other 2 are using VGA and DVI

Thank you. And as for why VGA, idunno, I suppose its just because it is the one that I had lying around.

However, the new monitor came with a spare DVI cord, so would I be able to plug in 2 DVI cords and 1 hdmi for the 3 monitors?

Really depends on your GPU if it has the proper outputs. There are conversion cables, but that kind of defeats the purpose you're aiming for.

Personally I would get an HDMI splitter to get as many of the monitors on HDMI as possible.

My GPU has 1 Display port, 1 hdmi port, and 2 DVI ports. It also comes with a VGA to DVI adapter, so I guess I can use two DVI cables

The other two monitors are old ones (I saw on ebay they were selling for like $40), so they dont have any HDMI ports, just VGA and DVI

Since we're on the topic of dual monitors, I too have a question.

I want to run dual monitors. Could I have the internet open on one of them and a game on the other :?

Yes you can. A close friend of mine has games running on his 23", while tweetdeck or something else is running on his 19".

VGA means you have to manually "tune" your monitor for best alignment and sharpness for the image across the screen. I't s huge PITA, the auto adjustment rarely works that great. WIth DVI the image is perfectly alighned pixel by pixel with no work on your part at all. Also there is less potential for interfereance and color issues caused by the analog cable.

There are other advantages too such as complete color control from your computer and your video card correctly identifying legal video modes etc... (Assuming your monitors BIOS is not crap)

If your monitor has DVI input, then there is usually no question but to use it

Who the hell do you think I am?

So my FPS on Skyrim at max settings is usually between 250 and 300.

Is that bad?

I don't know what mine was running at, but I doubt that high, and I'm running 2 GTX 670s in SLI.

30ish FPS is average and playable, 60 is amazing, anything higher is God-like.

Ah, the internet. Where men are men, women are men, and children are the FBI.

So I am trying to plug in my new monitor via an hdmi cable, but it doesnt work. Anyone know why? I know the cord itself is fine, so might it be an issue with the video card? Or maybe the monitor itself? Is there something I am supposed to configure? The monitor will connect to the computer with a dvi cable, and when I have another monitor plugged in as well, with the new one using hdmi, there will be no image on the new screen, but the computer claims that it is registering that it is plugged in.

Since it has HDMI on it this might be a silly question, but does it have HDCP support (the monitor)?

Hmm... silly question two, you do have the monitor set to HDMI?

Also, does your cursor act as if there is another monitor? (like going off the screen to the second one)

Well -blam!- me sideways on a saturday afternoon. That was the reason. I didnt realize I had to change the input for it (never had to do that before for a monitor)

How did I do?
You could get a considerably bigger hard drive for like $20 more. Also, you might be able to save some money and get ram that isnt like $9/gb. Idunno, just a thought.

Also, suppose I should ask, what are you gonna be using your rig for?

LOL! Bull-blam!-. A GTX 670 would not be able to get 250-300 FPS. You would need a GTX590 possibly 2 running in SLI.

The 590 and 690 are both worse than the 670. The 670 really has the same benchmarks as the 680.

A single 670 card though.....250-300 FPS i hard to believe ona single 670 card...

Ah, the internet. Where men are men, women are men, and children are the FBI.

Two more questions... hopefully.

1) So I finally stopped being retarded and managed to get my new monitor (posted above) to show using an HDMI cable. However, when it is on hdmi, the screen kinda shrinks down; that is, the screen that I can see and interact with is smaller than the full size of the screen. However, when I had it plugged in via DVI, the full screen was being used. There was no border. What is causing that shrinkage and how do I make it go away? (Refer to link on clarity of what I mean)

2) I am trying to connect all 3 monitors (2 through DVI, one hdmi). So first, the new monitor will be connected automatically since it is the primary display. Then I set it to extend the desktop to one of the other monitors. But then, I try to get it to extend the desktop to the third monitor, but it gives me this. Why is my computer being a dick and doing this to me?
