Two more questions... hopefully.

1) So I finally stopped being retarded and managed to get my new monitor (posted above) to show using an HDMI cable. However, when it is on hdmi, the screen kinda shrinks down; that is, the screen that I can see and interact with is smaller than the full size of the screen. However, when I had it plugged in via DVI, the full screen was being used. There was no border. What is causing that shrinkage and how do I make it go away? (Refer to link on clarity of what I mean)

2) I am trying to connect all 3 monitors (2 through DVI, one hdmi). So first, the new monitor will be connected automatically since it is the primary display. Then I set it to extend the desktop to one of the other monitors. But then, I try to get it to extend the desktop to the third monitor, but it gives me this. Why is my computer being a dick and doing this to me?

1) You need to download the latest drivers for your GPU.
2) Not sure what to say there...

Who the hell do you think I am?

Well I used the FPS counter with Bandicam, so it might be inaccurate but idk.

According to the AMD website, I have the latest driver.

I noticed when I changed the screen resolution lower than 1920x1080 that the border gets smaller, but everything gets more stretched. Maybe the border is the automatic defense against the image being all stretched.

In the configuration section for your display in the Catalyst Control Center, one of the tabs shows an overscan/underscan slider which puts the black bars around the image. In Configure Display section, it's the "Scaling Options" tab. Move the slider to the far right.

That should fix the border problems you're getting with HDMI.

Make sure you guys have your HDMI cable plugged into your GPU itself and not the motherboard, otherwise you will get integrated graphics. If it's plugged into your GPU it should configure the settings automatically.

So my FPS on Skyrim at max settings is usually between 250 and 300.

Is that bad?

30ish FPS is average and playable, 60 is amazing, anything higher is God-like.

30FPS becomes unplayable for PC Gamers

Yeah, nowadays with 60 FPS and 250 Hz screens... 30 FPS is low-end.

Lol really? Because my monitor only has a refresh rate of 29HZ (meaning it can only display up to 30 FPS) and I thought it looked great. I'm actually about to get this monitor which should show up to 120FPS.

My cousin wants to build a PC for gaming.

We've got this so far

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/p/ctBH

CPU: Intel Core i5-2310 2.9GHz Quad-Core Processor ($184.99 @ Amazon Canada)
Motherboard: MSI H67A-G43 (B3) ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB Video Card ($199.54 @ DirectCanada)
Case: Azza Orion 202 EVO ATX Mid Tower Case ($29.99 @ NCIX)
Power Supply: Antec 550W ATX12V Power Supply ($69.99 @ NCIX)
Total: $484.51

He's already got a harddrive, RAM and a CD drive. Any suggestions? His max price is 500$ CAD.

That CPU isn't too bad...but with the 560 Ti, I you'll get a slight bottleneck of performance. You want to downgrade to the 6850....which is still a great card.

Are they pretty much equivalent?

Would bottlenecking now be worth it if he upgrades the CPU in the future, where it would no longer bottleneck?

Well...i'm saying a slight bottleneck....you'll almost all of the power out of that GPU with that CPU, but not all of it.

if you guys spend just a little more more money on the CPU, you can get the 2500K, and you won't have any bottlenecking problems.

Just saying, but somebody correct me if i'm wrong about what I just said.

Well damn. I just realized the motherboard wasn't priced. I'll have to change it.

edit: How's the performance of the 6850 compared to the 560 Ti?

Motherboard: ASRock H61ICAFE ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($87.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850 1GB Video Card ($125.45 @ DirectCanada)

Total: $523.41

Looking to get to 500$. Any suggestions?

edit: Apparently an i5-2500k doesn't come close to bottle-necking a gtx560 ti... I'm going to downgrade that.

why should he believe in me?

Hey guys I have a question,
If I order a custom made from cyberpowerpc, would I need to worry about wiring or connecting a monitor to GPU/MOBO after I already get it?

I posted this on Reddit, earlier and just wanted a second opinion, thanks Flood.

My current PC is an older system that was store bought. I have upgraded the RAM and video card in it, and until recently it did almost everything I needed it too. I pretty much only play Minecraft on it and it does fine, but then Steam Summer Sales hit... Now I'm the proud owner of games like; Saints Row The Third, Skyrim, New Vegas, Brink, Arma 2 and others. I can't run any of them and I'm looking to either upgrade again or if I have to start fresh.

Using "canyourunit.com" I have established that its mainly my ancient processor. But with the very basic computer knowledge I have, I have come to understand that if I buy a new CPU, I'll could have to change motherboards, and then probably RAM aswell.

I would greatly appreciate any help that you could offer! Heres my specs (If you need anything else I could try to gather more info):

CPU: AMD Anthlon 64 3500+ 2200 MHz
MOBO: ASUSTek Computer INC, Amberine M
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS
RAM: ~2.5gb of DDR
Hard Drive: 500gb

Should I upgrade CPU and try to keep the same socket type(or whatever its called) with my MOBO? Or should I just redo the system? I'm willing to spend a fair amount of money. And if you guys could help recommend some parts that would be amazing.

On Reddit a kind man suggested that I build a new rig. This is what he suggested:
CPU Intel Core i3-2120 3.3GHz Dual-Core Processor $119.00
Motherboard ASRock H61M/U3S3 Micro ATX LGA1155 $66.99
Memory G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 $43.99
Hard Drive Crucial M4 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk $114.99
Video Card HIS Radeon HD 6870 1GB Video Card $159.99
Case Fractal Design Core 1000 MicroATX Mini Tower $39.99
Power Supply PC Power & Cooling 500W ATX12V Power Supply $75.98
Total:$590.47

So should I attempt to improve my build? Or start new? Should I go with his, and can you guys make any improvements to his build? And lastly the thing I see with his build is he says to get a SSD, are they even worth it?

Sorry for the large post and generally disorganized manner I wrote it in.

I may be getting a laptop this Christmas. I need it to preferably be able to run BF3, at least on low.
I'm good with computers, but I'm more of a desktop kind of guy. I already have a gaming desktop that I built in February, however seeming as my Dad moved down to London, I need something to be able to play my glorious PC vidya games down there seeming as I dont really want to take a huge ass desktop down every 3 weeks for 2 days.

My budget is 600 to 700 quid, and I'd prefer it if I didn't have to import.

Wat do.

I hear ASUS makes good laptops. I looked, and the ASUS G73SW seems to fit your price range. Other than that you might have to go to... dare I say it... Alienware...
