I was wondering ;P
What can I expect from the GTX 670?

I never had a computer that epic1337h4x0r before. Will shop for the parts later if parents approve.

It's even cheaper than this laptop I'm considering, better bang for the buck. I'll toss in a mouse and will probably reuse this ancient keyboard I have lying around the house.

You shouldn't have any issues with it for current games, that's for sure. Quite a beefy card.
I recommend going with EVGA's FTW edition of the card. It's about $10 or $20 more, and the performance is about equal to the 680. Even looks like the 680, uses the same PCB as it, so it has better cooling than the standard EVGA 670, too.

I mean, it's seriously called the 670 FTW?

Planning to run Skyrim and the like. Probably BF3 but I have it for the Xbox.

I have a 670 FTW. Yes, it actually stand for "For The Win", and yes, it will be more than enough to run games like Skryim and BF3

My -blam!-y PC cant even run TF2. I think the problem is the graphics card, i will explain why. When i run any game (I need to play minecraft on the lowest settings) it crashes or bugs out. An example is when i run TF2, all the textures are messed up (Purple rocks) and other players (Including myself) appear, but only little parts of the texture, so it looks like snow where the character would be. I have looked into this, and i want to upgrade to run at least BF3, but i will need help. Do you guys know what the problem is, and how would i upgrade using cheapest way possible?

Or you guys could just get a Macbook Pro, the latest ones have the capability to run almost anything, (maybe not on VERY HIGH graphical settings but whatever)

But Silent, I'm pretty sure there's different Insipron models out there, we'd need the model number to help you better.

How's this build?

CPU - Intel Core i5 3570K - $230
GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 670 2GB DDR5 - $400
Mobo - Biostar TZZ7B - $90
HDD - Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB - $90
RAM - CORSAIR Vengenace LP 8GB - $60
Case - Antec Three Hundred - $55
PSU - Cooler Master Silent Pro M600 600W - $90
Optical drive - LiteON DVD Burner - $18
Monitor - ASUS VS2328H-P 23" HD LED - $170

Am I forgetting something?

I have never heard excellent reviews about Biostar, frankly it's surprising I know they exist. Go with a ASUS or ASRock or Gigabyte, unless that MOBO has good reviews, people seem to like them.

The GTX 670 will max BF3 and get ~60 FPS. That's pretty -blam!- sexy.

Maybe I'll stick to BF3 on Xbox because of frenz. But anyway, getting BF3 for the PC wouldn't hurt right?

No, because in 6 months you can play with me (On PC)!

And I was just using BF3 as an example.

I was going to mention this, but simply assumed he was on a strict budget.
Gigabyte is probably the best choice in terms of durability and life span.

Me? ASUS. I like their style, and people say they make the best boards for overclocking, yet are reliable.

Gigabyte. I've replaced a couple of Asus ones. Their capacitors don't seem to last as long.
Gigabyte boards are never-say-die boards.

Brand is really irrelevant. All depends on the individual board, not a brand. That's how I see it.

This, major this. I do have to say though Asus boards seem to typically be more bang for the buck

1. You are in a custom build thread
2. MAC's are silly for gaming
3. MAC's are overpriced for the equipment they have
4. MAC laptops are usually a generation behind everyone else

*Is laptop gaming -blam!-*
*Stands in corner feeling rejected*

D:

BUT...I should be able to FINALLY build my own computer sometime in February. Yes, I know it's a long time from now, but that's the only semi-guaranteed date that I have for a build.

Perhaps I can squeeze in a little bit more for a better ASUS mobo. Kind of like their GUI-based BIOS, glade they've phased out the atrocious blue -blam!- of a BIOS.

Calculated the build with keyboard and mouse and it's cheaper than an Alienware of equivalent specs.

Been watching videos of people assembling desktops, doesn't look that difficult. Cable management will be tedious, unfortunately.
