Will there be the possibility to upgrade parts with this build? Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question.

Thank you so much for your help. Im book marking all the parts. I may tweak it some, but this gives me a build to work with.

That is an excellent build for the cost. I have just about the exact same thing, but with a EVGA 560 instead, different ram, and different case. I'd go with what he posted.

I have an old 80GB SATA HDD from one of my older PCs. Can I re-use it? Obviously as not my primary drive but a little bit more storage wouldn't hurt.

One thing however, it has Ubuntu installed. If plug it in, will it boot into Ubuntu? I'm planning to reformat it with a Windows 7 install disc.

Well, i looked at the build I was about to buy, and tried to find all the parts from that build, but not all was on the other site. So, will this work? Is it a good combination?

Get a different CPU. The i3 is pathetic.

The GPU might also be a bottleneck.

I'd recommend a Sapphire 7750, because it seems to outperform the 640.

That's a really decent build. But are you getting a custom CPU cooler? If not, there's no point investing more in an unlocked CPU (you have the Core i5 2500K which means it's unlocked for overclocking), costs more then the Locked version

Also, that GPU still seems a little underpowered in hindsight. This GPU costs slightly more but carries enough power to handle all current gen PC games with good frame rates (that includes Battlefield 3/Crysis 2 which will be able to run at 30 fps on decent graphic settings)

Select that GPU and you'll have a more then capable Gaming rig.

Oh and this case costs the same as that pathetic black case you listed but its better looking and has bigger fans :)

Also what Case are you getting?
<3

I have no plans on overclocking.
Chassi, I saw an review on Youtube, and it seems nice. Unless you have a better idea? :)

My store didnt have EVGA 550 ti, but they do have Asus, and another Asus that costs more. What the difference between them? They also have one Gainward.
EDIT: I'd rather get a mid-tower rather than a full-tower, as they are quite large, no?

If you have no plans for overclocking go get the locked version.

I'd still grab the 550 ti. It guarantees you'll have decent GPU power. The difference is the 550 has got got much more bang for your buck then the 640. This comparison shows how much more powerful the 550 ti is - you effectively get double the power in some cases for only a little extra price
My brother has that NXZT case (it's smaller then you may think). It's up to you as to what case you choose. I personally think that full tower case i recommended is a better choice. A full tower makes building the computer easier, it increases airflow (cooler your computer further and it also leaves more room for expansion. The case I provided also has better fans.

Ok. So, I've put together a few builds myself and am curious to know what you guys would recommend me given the following information:

CPU: I want an Intel, however I do not need to over clock.
CPU Cooler: Not needed since I do not want to over clock.
Case: Want a case that allows for display of internal components as well as side panel for cable management.
Memory: 8GB.
HDD: 1TB with an optional SSD for storing the OS.
GPU: I want something that plays current generation games with above decent graphics. A cheap enough GPU that allows for SLI/Crossfire later on would be nice.
Motherboard: No idea lol. Whatever supports the above specs.
Power Supply: I don't want to go too low, but want enough juice to accommodate SLI/Crossfire in the future; not sure which wattage though.
Monitor: Needed; nothing super fancy, but allows for 1080p and crisp visuals.
Keyboard/Mouse: Needed; again nothing fancy, but nothing bare bone basic either. Stylish :)

So, if anyone wishes to complete this that'd be great! I just want to compare what you guys come up with compared to what I already have planned. Mostly because I've reached the point where I'm happy with what I have mostly, but can't decide on a few aspects and I can't make up my mind. I have a ceiling off about $1300 as well. Just want a fresh take on a build. Thanks in advance.

Damn! Thanks!

Gotta say, that build is pretty similar to mine. You chose a Sandy Bridge CPU versus the Ivy that I chose (although I found an Ivy cheaper at Microcenter lol). Same GPU and same case. Haha! Glad to see I'm not far off here! This helps solidify that I am picking the parts I need for my...well needs. :P

You can choose keyboard/mouse it's you personal preference. I wasn't sure if you needed an OS and optical drive so I added them.
If he has a local Microcenter around him, I'd suggest he get the i5-3750K, they had a deal with it going for $189. Or hell, even the i5-3450

Noblesse Oblige

I'm sort of experienced in building computers, and I've done research on the parts I'm getting. I'm just wondering if there's a better value on something I'm not aware of.

Newegg

They both lead to the same build, but Newegg has pictures for the parts.

Edit: I can give you my reasoning for those parts if you so wish.
