Indeed, I don't see a logical reason for one to game with more than 3 monitors.

Unless you're doing some serious multitasking and require a large screen real estate.

IMO it's useless and you waste money doing so.....but hey....some people like it.
Same, I'd like to do dual monitor set up later in time, but three just seems excessive; I don't even know what I'd do on all the screens.

I run a dual monitor setup, and I can already see the benefits of having three monitors.

Having three large resolution displays would be quite useful, especially if one of them were in portrait mode. Oh man, I can drool over how much stuff I can do with 3 large resolution displays.
You know, I know exactly how you feel. I could do so much more.

Also, 4chan =/= /b/.

He's actually a Redditor. :-) Not a /b/rother. ;-)

My laptop is really good. But the problem is that I'm running out of memory and well, it's not the greatest for gaming. I have a really crappy graphics card and it's a laptop. I can run most games if I turn anti aliasing off and run it on low. I really want to get a desktop.

Depends on your purpose. You don't need a beefy processor for gaming.

The best processor?

Why that would be the Xeon E5-2687. Oh you meant desktop? That would be the 3960x. You meant for under 500? That would be the 2700/3770k. You need to be more specific bro.

What I recommend is that if you have to use a cpu i would rather go with Intel becuase AMD's recent line hasn't worked out too well. If you are doing this next year, there is a possibility AMD's new line that surpasses bulldozer with be an improvement and may be worth your time. Another issue is that sandy bridge CPUs are being cancelled soon and wont be for sale next year so you're only choice will be ivy bridge in that situation. As for the Radeon 7000 HD vs GTX 600 series, Nvidia is in the lead this year with kepler, however AMD will still always have a better price to performance ratio. Either is really fine, but Nvidia has overall better performance this year. I still go with AMD though because I'm a die hard fan boy, but you should feel free to create your own opinions.

What about the sound card...?

A sound card is for "enhanced" audio I guess you could say?

The motherboard has audio ports on it already. If you want to throw in a sound card...go ahead. It'll be about $20.

I know some of you are pretty PC savvy, tomorrow I get my check, gonna make a whole new build. So far I only have the basics.

Case

RAM(I'll probably use this until I can get the max capability, 32GB)

GPU

MOBO

Probably an i5 CPU and a later upgrade to i7.

Any suggestions, I'm honestly not sure if they are compatible, just went to a local computer store and chose what seemed good, to my limited knowledge.

Anyone?

  • 07.31.2012 11:47 PM PDT

Ah, someone leaked. Now to find the leak and.... plug it.
With justice.

I use coup 5
Never Played halo 1 = Invalid opinion
Bloom isn't whats broken, its your idea of what good is and your opinion
Thats like saying uber nerf armor lock because like 20 percent of the community hates it. Oh wait..................

^that guy^ that guy right there
I have a 2700K
I would however recommend something in the 3***X by intel
preferably sandy bridge
Less heat, easier to OC, And sandy E can do PCi e 3.0

Looking good on comparability to me

But i would have gone with.

CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB $89

The ram clock is a bit slower but i find them far more reliable.

All of these parts are found in a store near my job (tigerdirect)

I wasn't too sure on the RAM in the first place that was one I was once linked.

I'm iffy about the GPU though, the most important piece. I'd rather wait 2 weeks and get something that is much, much better, if this doesn't suffice.

After looking into it, 2 or 3 monitors could be useful to me, as I will be focusing on animation and game design, speaking of which, that's my main focus in this build. Sure gaming is nice but with my crappy Vista Computer which I upgraded for $120 I can play most games on High (without anything else open).

But this is much more important, and these programs run much harder than any game. I need to be able to have Adobe Flash, Blender, Maya, Daz, Unity, etc smoothly and at some points more than one at a time. Not to mention bugs when rendering. I will potentially have too much to lose on a Computer crash so I want this PC in tip top shape.

I assume my focus will have to be with RAM and the CPU, not to mention a good GPU. I may need to go for the i7 and I want 32GB maximum RAM to be absolutely secure I can handle it all, although 32GB is a bit excessive and that can wait a while. As for GPU I may end up getting the EVGA 2GB, what do you think?

...
Where's that picture chart when you need it.

If your guna be rocking Maya 10 i would go up to the Gforce 600 series and DEF Max out the processor for your board

Your rocking the 1155 Socket so You want the I7 2700K
And A Coolermaster v8

That way when your crunching renders you can stay at a cool 30-35 Celsius and even over clock from 3.5 per core to 4.4-4.5 per core for added power.

My thoughts:

"Nice"

But seriously, not bad, not bad at all.

Although let me let you in on a secret...

Come closer

...

Closer

...

I just picked the nicest looking MOBO and just made sure it had at least 4 Memory slots and was made by GIGABYTE, and had more than a single PCI Express Slot.

Indeed, my knowledge is limited.

Point being, if a MOBO switch is needed it shall happen.
