Hi all!
So, i got all the parts and assembled them, installed windows and all the updates etc.
But, when i start the computer, first the asus screen comes up, and says "no device found"(along with an error beep!). Then It goes black. Then the asus screen comes back, saying nothing, and then windows starts normally. I plugged my SSD into he SATA6GB_1, and my dvd-reader into the SATA3GB_1. I also have an HDD that I have yet to plug in, but its also SATA6GB.
Did it plug something wrong? If it wasnt clear, its an Asus motherboard.

Ok first of what asus board
second does the board have on board error reporting.
third, if so during the beep which error number is reported.

Any particular reason you suggest nVIDIA over AMD?

I got a 7770 some time ago, it's lovely, but the drivers are a pain. If you can, go nvidia. Seriously.

As he already said, the drivers. I had a 6850, it broke down after a little while of use, and I got a 560 instead. I've had a much easier time using nVIDIA than AMD. Also, several of my close friends have AMD GPUs, their video drivers constantly crash and give the computer a black screen.

Then, I would probably just touch the interior of this old case I have which seemingly has a bare-metal interior. :/

It would work too right as I dismantled the old case's PSU.

Just throwing this out there, but instead of buying a Nvidia 670, but 2 ATI 6950's.

ONLY DO THIS IF YOU KNOW FOR SURE THAT YOUR MOTHERBOARD IS CROSSFIRE COMPATIBLE.

The dual 6950's will deliver more performance than a 670, and it will be the same price...maybe even a bit cheaper.

I hear there's a lot more driver issues with crossfiring, and will he even have a large enough PSU?

Oh ya...that's another thing. Besides having a Crossfire ready motherboard, you need have a big enough power supply.

For dual 6050's, i'd recommend AT LEST an 850 watt 80 Plus Certified power supply.

Also, what kind of driver issues are there?

The 680 is better for gaming....so a quad 680 setup would be the best possible to date....and a lot cheaper than a quad 690 setup.

EDIT: But the 670 and 680 are sooo close, that it's almost better to go with the 670. So a quad 670 setup would be the best.

Awesome

And you're probably right, but i'm sure if you're using 2 or monitors, that 3 or more 680's in SLI mode will do some justice, but 2 is enough....hell, 1 680 is good enough.

Well,I have bad history with AMD's cards.
All the cards I owned were either burned internally or had driver issues, and when I switched to Nvidia i didn't have issues with either of those,so yeah.
Thanks for the tip though!
