Ah, the internet. Where men are men, women are men, and children are the FBI.

What do yall think of this keyboard? ($68 plus tax on amazon). Its got the aesthetic appeal to it that I like, but is the rest of it good?

Got bored and put together This $300 gaming rig that can play ANY GAME to date. No Windows 7 on it though, so you would have to either 1) Use a pre-existing Windows 7 or 2) Use Linux and run the Wine program.
>2) Use Linux and run the Wine program.

No no no no no. Don't do that. While Wine works very well for some games, it's a pain in the ass for others. You either wait until the games are supported on Linux, which might be soon since Steam is coming to Linux later this year, or dual-boot with Windows.

That's the keyboard I bought a few weeks ago.

Backlit red looks awesome, and has lots of macro keys that can be programmed. WASD keys and space bar are also durable too.

The only games that have been confirmed so far are Left 4 Dead 2 and Serious Sam 3. However, with L4D2 ported that means the Source engine as well, so all other Source based games should be easy to port afterward.

Yup! There are some users who don't like it because the games aren't open source like almost everything else running on Linux, but overall it'll be good because Valve is working together with Intel, NVIDIA and AMD to optimize video card drivers on Linux. You can also check out Valve's Linux blog if you want.

I didn't know that they had a Linux blog...will definitely be checking up on this.

Also, that's awesome how Intel, Nvidia, and AMD are updating their drivers for Linux users. Maybe there will be a point to putting that $300 build together just for the hell of it.

Please keep in mind that this is a budget build, and i will be playing games such as battlefield 3, skyrim, etc... ive looked at the graphics the APU can do and im very pleased with them. My friend though suggests that i instead go with a more costly build using the AM3 or AM3+ chipsets. Hes says that i should go with AM3 chip-set because it'll be more useful in the future as in 3-4 years. My response to this is that in 3-4 years soo many improvements in technology will have occured that even the AM3 chipset will be more on the mediocre side of CPUs. I plan on getting a completely new system in 3-4 years, so i see no need to go for the more costly build. Am i wrong in my thinking?

Fix'd those links for you.

EDIT: Also, the AM3 CPU that I linked you was from this build. Which is a better build than what you currently have imo.

I heard Left 4 Dead 2 will be OpenGL-based on all 3 platforms that Steam now/will support. Quite and interesting decision as Valve once regarded Direct3D as a trainwreck or something.

Apparently Antec cases are not available here.

I have two options, either the CoolerMaster HAF912 or the Corsair Carbide 400R.

The HAF912 is roughly the same price as the Antec Three Hundred the Carbide is priced a bit higher but looks nicer and has front USB 3.0 I/O.

Yeah the 400R does look good.

Guess I'll choose that over the HAF 912 which is somewhat dated, plus I think there's more space to work with in the Corsair.

If I get approval, parts shopping on Saturday or Sunday. :)

Awesome

Also, from I what I hear (and from the videos i've seen), the Corsair 400R has very good cooling. The case, or most of it anyways, is made out of aluminum (correct me if i'm wrong), and the aluminum absorbs some heat, so you will also be getting cooling benefits from that.

So. I need some help. I have gotten my hands on an OS (Windows 7 HP), and I want to reformat my C drive on the laptop that I am using in order to move it to the PC that I built. I am having a ton of issues with this at the moment.

I looked at a guide and tried to boot using the older win7 upgrade disk that is installed on my laptop, and I went through the process, but there was no option to reformat that I could find.

Wat do?
