So. I need some help. I have gotten my hands on an OS (Windows 7 HP), and I want to reformat my C drive on the laptop that I am using in order to move it to the PC that I built. I am having a ton of issues with this at the moment.

I looked at a guide and tried to boot using the older win7 upgrade disk that is installed on my laptop, and I went through the process, but there was no option to reformat that I could find.

Wat do?

Are you trying to use your laptop HDD as your desktop's main HDD? That's a bad idea, you need to get a regular HDD to use in your desktop.

This.

And why would you want to format it if you're just moving it over?

Thoughts on the new 660 ti?

Will this be the new go-to card for those wanting the best bang for their buck, ousting the 560 ti?

The 660/660 Ti isn't even out yet...IF it's coming out...
I don't think it's coming out. Funny how with the 6xx series, they've covered the low-end (which I assume are just rebranded Fermi chips) and the high-end but not the mid-end.

At least we get comprehensive market coverage from AMD (7770, 7850, 7870) for the mid-end.

Monitors are hard to choose here, I'm looking for a Samsung but getting a decent one seems like I'm inflating the total price...

Might want to look into LG and Asus as well. I've heard good things about Asus monitors, but I know from experience that LG has good and well priced monitors.

ASUS display offerings are -blam!- here, I was planning to have an ASUS monitor as part as my setup but the specific model is not available here. They have a couple of displays from the same range but they have a 14ms response time, which is appalling for a recent monitor. Guess I'll take a look at LG.

Sucks that I don't have good monitors in the house. I do however have two 15" 1024x768 unused LCD monitors but I doubt I'll be using them with a 7770 or the 7870. I have the TV that I use for my Xbox but it's not in my bedroom.

If they do release a 660ti, hopefully it'll be 200 or less

Unlikely.

They are releasing a 660ti. And I'm sure it will be more than $200.

Definitely not $200. Maybe $250, more likely $275-$300.

If it's in that price range, you'd probably be better off with a 670 then.

Laptop HDDs weren't made for use in a desktop. They're smaller and slower, and generally not a good idea. Desktop HDDs are fairly cheap now, so there shouldn't be any reason to not get one.

I don't think you can take out the laptop internal HDDs. And even if you could it's probably a risky process and not worth the trouble. Most laptop HDDs I noticed aren't as fast as most desktop HDDs either.

And like the user above me said, it's probably not compatible in the first place.

1) You can take out a laptop hard drive.

2) As for speed, the same concept for a desktop hard drive applies with a laptop hard drive. The faster the RPM, the faster the drive. My laptop hard drive is 7200 RPM.

3) Laptop hard drives are 2.5 inches. So as long as you have a converter or your hard drive cages support 2.5 inch drives, you'll be ok.

I make a legitimate thread on the most logical choice for the next Bond actor, and you take that away from me by creating a parody thread indirectly connecting my thread to yours.

I hope your kids have bad influences and develop bad personalities. I wish this with all my heart.

Seems pretty comprehensive, bookmarked for future use. Nice job.

Most cases come with adapters for 2.5" drives which includes SSDs and laptop hard drives.

They are just smaller.
