Thoughts on the new 660 ti?

Will this be the new go-to card for those wanting the best bang for their buck, ousting the 560 ti?

The 660/660 Ti isn't even out yet...IF it's coming out...

I heard they have a surplus of 570's, and are waiting to get rid of some of those before they release it.

That's a nice build. And yes you'll not run into any problems running the aforementioned games on max.

Good choice, but just fyi, LGs are pretty bad in terms of quality.
I was going for a Samsung but they are pricey, we don't get the better ASUS monitors here...

I have two configs that are reasonably price but when I toss in a monitor, more $$$$. :(

It's fine, I have a Flatron model too, and nothing's wrong with it. At least it's much better than my Hanns.G panel. Plus you got a Flatron with an IPS panel, LG is one of the few manufacturers that make low-priced, consumer-use IPS monitors.

Especially with the 670 in there, you can play any game on max settings for a long time.

Sooo if I were to do a clean install on a HDD that still has stuff on it, it would all be erased, correct?

I started my computer and went through POST and filled everything out in BIOS. Now the screen is blank and I'm trying to figure out why even when I put the OS disk in the optical drive, it's unresponsive.

Yeah, they are, but they make damn good displays. I'm sure you could find a good deal over the internet or something :)

I've been around more Flatron monitors than I can count on my two hands, and I can tell you they're pretty terrible. Most of them began to make this buzzing sound in the back, even if they were switched off. Every single one of them had at least one or two cracks which developed in the frame's corners. I won't get started on the picture on some of them. Ugh.
Not to mention their other products, either... LG is still Lucky Goldstar, in my books.

Yes, just click format when you get to the part where you select the drive to install to (under drive options).

It should say it found no bootable drives and be asking you to insert a bootable disc. No idea why it wouldn't.
Just put in your OS disc now, turn off the PC and turn it back on. Make sure your boot order in the BIOS shows your DVD drive as the first boot device, then save the configuration. Now it should reboot and (with the OS disc in) it should be asking you to press any key to boot from the disc. Do that and Windows set-up should begin.

EDIT: If you're using one of those W7 Upgrade discs, I'm pretty sure you'll have to click "Custom Install" at the beginning of installation to get to the format option.

What would you guys say the best video card for under $300 is? I've heard the 480, the 570, and the 560ti. Anyone have a confirmation or input on it?

  • 08.11.2012 5:25 PM PDT

I got these cheeseburgers man....

560ti or 570 are pretty damn good, either work.

Go with the 570. Awesome card.

Yeah 560 ti or 570. The 480 is good but runs pretty hot.

Yeah 560 ti or 570. The 480 is good but runs pretty hot.

The 570 is on par with the 480. The only difference is that the 480 is cheaper(?)....because it's older.

Yeah, but like I said it runs hotter and may not be as reliable as the newer cards, even if it still performs the same.

From what I hear, the 480 overheats like hell and is insanely loud, but those are the only negatives I hear about it.

That's an issue here as I live in Malaysia and we experience high humidity + heat.

I have a/c though but I'm not leaving it on for a day.

If anyone is in a high humidity situation or very high heat, they are guna need to water cool. Air coolers just can't cut it if they don't have good air to circulate.
