I can afford a 670, but I'd rather not spend that much. Ideally, the 560 ti fits perfectly. However, the 660 ti is rumored to be around $299, which is halfway. So, if the performance is there I probably would get that instead.

I can afford pretty much up to $1500. However, I don't want to spend that much since this'll be my first rig. I'd like to keep it as close to $1000 as possible. Basically, once I get over that price point, I eliminate the "luxury" items or downgrade, such as getting a cheaper case, lower wattage PSU (or non-modular), no Blu-Ray drive, smaller SSD, etc...

In all honesty, the graphics card (along with the processor), is the most important part for a gaming pc. It's the one area where it pays to pump in as much money as you can afford to.

Otherwise it's like buying a Porshe and putting in a crappy engine.

I have the 670 and it maxes every game I have thrown at it.

Just a thought: Whats the point of buying a $400 card just for gaming when a $200-250 card can max out any and every game out right now? (aside from maybe futureproofing, but idunno how much longer a $400 card would last compared to a $200)

2560x1600 isn't easy with a $200 card.

hmm, yeah I suppose if you had a ridiculously expensive monitor/multiple monitors the $400 would help. I know my card (Radeon HD 6950) can do BF3 at 25-40ish fps at 3840x1024, but I guess if you wanted higher perfection it would cost some extra coin.

I am building my computer in two days, but I am still confused about the operating system (Windows 7). What is the difference between SP1, OEM, and the regular (which is $100 more)? If someone could answer this question, I would appreciate it.

OEM supposedly is for newly built machines. You can install it however you like; unless you worry about the TOS and license-stuff. If you are in Europe you shouldn't worry about those though.

SP is the short for "Service Pack" when Windows operating systems have a certain amount of updates Microsoft releases a service pack that contains all those updates and a few extra things.

The regular is the typical retail box for the operating system, the license is different than the OEM's. That's all what it is.

Never got a response so...
Recommend me a good gaming PC. Running BF3 decently is the goal.
My price range is 700$ at the maximum, preferably cheaper than that.

Does this include OS, monitor, and keyboard?
I have a keyboard and monitor, that would probably work. You can still send some my way, though. OS is what i need

I got these cheeseburgers man....

I'm pretty sure I made you a build a few pages back, you just never bothered to check it, it seems.

Can you link us the monitor? There's not much to go by with just that information.

Ok, so...my original plan was to wait until February so I can get a budget if $1300-$1500 and build an uber PC. Well, I just remembered Black Friday. If I bought my parts on Black Friday, then I would only have a budget of at least $800 (I MAY be able to get $1300) from my G73SW if i'm lucky.

So, should i wait until February for a bigger budget and no uber sales, or wait until Black Friday and have those parts go on an uber sale buy them?

I'd go with Black Friday, but leave some stuff out, like a DVD burner, SSD, possible second GPU.
If you can, salvage the HDD and PSU.

Basically make the barebones ubercomputer you want, then when you get the money, upgrade it with what you want to finish with.

As you don't know exactly what will be on sale, you'd probably be best sticking with your current plans. If a part you know you're absolutely going to get goes on sale, then of course buy that part. However, I don't think it would be wise to shift your chosen parts around to fit a sale.

I can't salvage my hard drive form my Asus because I need it to sell it....and there's no way I could use the PSU in here.
>.>

I need a DVD drive (only $17 right now...will be cheaper on Black Friday). Also, in either budget, I wasn't planning on an SSD and dual GPUs right off the bat.

True....but I mean, if the prices are cheap enough, and if I can get the same, or almost the same build as before....well...it'll just be better.

I might re-consider the GTX 670 but the store only has the OC'd ones which are more expensive than the reference card.

Is it worth it to blow in more money for a beefed up GTX 670 (with three fans and that -blam!-)?

Yes, they will have superior cooling power.

That really depends on how good his case circulation is in general.
