I made a thread the other day but I'm thinking I'll get more replies here:

I'm looking for a GPU better than the 5570, should I go with 6850 or the gtx 560?

I want to play games at 1080p with little to no lag. I only have 200$.

usrs? Even you lower the setting to lowest of some games I'm not sure $200 will get you that.

You won't be able to have top of the line obviously but the 560TI is an amazing card that you can get for $200 after a couple rebates. Just make sure not to get MSI. I got my 560 from them and it was from a bad run and I basically got a -blam!- you from the company. They said I could return the card if *I* paid for shipping and even then, they would send me a used card. Just a word of caution.

Im going to go with the 560 instead. I have to get a new HD for my laptop so it's a great way to cut back.

My friend has the 6850, and he runs BF3 on high, at about 60FPS at 1080p. Not sure what you're talking about.

Then why doesn't everyone have one?? And even with max AA?

I don't know much about AMD cards BTW. If their CPUs aren't the best I don't think their GPUs will be either.

I have always heard Intels equivalent CPUs perform better, but like I said I don't know much about AMDs products.

Just because AMD doesn't perform better doesn't mean it sucks.

Probably not with max AA, but either way, its a good card.

Who the hell do you think I am?

Just to let you know you guys shouldn't only worry about how much FPS you can get in a game when you're buying a GPU. There are plenty of other factors to consider.

AA is only anti-aliasing, the higher the resolution, the lower setting you need it on, because you'll only notice the jaggies more on lower resolutions.

You only need about 4xMSAA/8xFXAA on 1080p.

With 1080p, you're looking at having more VRAM. Either of those cards with 2gb gddr5 should do fine.

What about 1GB ddr5?

You said 1080p, I was only suggesting what was nessecary.

1.5GB might be enough.

...if you haven't got a GPU.

Seriously, the GPU handles 90%+of gaming performance, it should always be top priority. Unless you already have the best GPU money can buy, the only other option is to buy a second one or even a third one, or get the best processor money can buy.

Not that you'll need that of course, your monitor has to be able to support the kind of frames your GPU is pumping. Which means no HDTVs. If you're fine with 60FPS, HDTVs you have lying around can save money. If you really want to see 100+ FPS, you better be willing to drop a lot of cash on a 2ms screen.

That wasn't what I meant. I know that how much FPS it produces is the most important factor, but there a plenty of other things to consider when buying a GPU.

For example, a 480 can give more FPS than a 560, but the 480 runs hot as hell and is super loud, and is probably more susceptible to breaking down than the 560.

AMD was king when Intel had their lolPentium 4 run. Also, AMD's graphics division is essentially ATi.

I remember 7-8 years ago in a forum; someone chose a Pentium D for his PC build, the others just spat on his face for choosing Intel for gaming.

Good to hear that you made a decision. For anybody that cares, I just got my 660TI today and got it up and running. I've gotta say that the card has passed all my expectations. It's really powerful, quiet, runs cool and doesn't take a lot of power. I haven't even OC'ed it yet to see how far I can truly push it but I'm loving it so far.

So, here's the "high-end" build that I'm going for if I'm given a high budget. I think this is final.

CPU - Intel Core i5 3470 - RM580
Mobo - ASUS P8Z77-V - RM649
RAM - Kingston 1600C9 Hyper-X 2x4GB - RM179
GPU - LeadTek WinFast GTX 670 - RM1149
PSU - Seasonic S12II 620W - RM299
HDD - Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA III - RM325
SSD - Corsair F60 Force 3 - RM239
ODD - LiteOn DVD Burner - RM109
Case - Corsair Carbide 400R - RM359

Price is in my local currency.

LeadTek has been producing GPUs for a while but they pulled out of the US market.

Their products are still available in Asia, Australia etc.

Anyway, that's the only reference (thus cheaper) GTX 670 that my store sells. Not sure if I can dish out an additional RM300+ for an ASUS or Gigabyte GTX 670 or opt for the Sapphire HD 7950 which is of the same price as the LeadTek and is a more notable brand.

Plus, the GTX 670 by ASUS is the same price as the reference GTX 680, here at least.

Dude their Phenom and Anthalon series were incredible! Honestly I would pick AMD over intel any day.
That was true.

But with all due honesty, the Bulldozer-based FX processors are a flop. The Phenoms and Athlons weren't that bad.

It's not that they're bad, just that when comparing intel to AMD CPUs that are the same price, most Intels will perform better.

True.

Hopefully their refreshed Bulldozer CPUs would allow them to compete better with Intel. The current line-up has appalling single-threaded performance.
