Installing Windows right now, should I partition my SSD (that I want to put my OS on), and if so how large of a size?
Don't partition your SSD.

Why'd they stop?
AMD spun-off their manufacturing division. Their processors are manufactured by Global Foundries while they outsourced their GPU manufacturing to TSMC.

So which LAN, the one under Utilities or the one under Drivers?
Under drivers.

I agree with Salty; the CD drivers are grossly outdated, and I have had absolutely zero problems with over thirty PC's all updated with ASUS and AsRock's drivers on their official pages. Be sure to update the BIOS as well, since that will be outdated.
What? How grossly outdated? The Z77 chipset came out in April, and it's not like Windows 7 upgraded from SP1 in that time. The drivers on the CD will be fine, and should all work. I've never heard of drivers supplied on discs being incorrect, but unfortunately, it's a different story getting them online. If there was a major issue with the drivers on the disc, they'd probably ship it with an up-to-date disc.

I, on the other hand, have installed drivers and operating systems on at least over 500 machines, of various brands, both pre-built and custom built. I'm telling you, you will end up messing up an installation, and possibly the hardware itself, if you go around installing every single driver you see on a page. I'm mainly talking about chipset and BIOS upgrades. You shouldn't install anything unless you're certain it is compatible with a product. Don't take their word for it.

Also, I wouldn't bother flashing the BIOS. If your computer boots up properly, and you can tweak settings in the BIOS without an issue, I don't think there's a lot of point in updating the BIOS. Don't fix what ain't broke. :P

Slightly newer Ivy Bridge CPUs like the Intel Core i5 3470 may require a BIOS update.

But I doubt if it's necessary if the PC POSTs.

Yeah, it would be in that case - new CPU on older board, but exactly, if it POSTs, it should be fine =P

If you intend to use a Ivy Bridge CPU with an older chipset like the Z68 or P68 then a BIOS update is mandatory to add support for the new architecture.

Plus there aren't that many perks if you update your BIOS anyway, unless you're installing a newer CPU.

He's not saying the ones on the disc don't work. They do, otherwise they wouldn't sell the disc if there were problems on it. We're saying that there are better, faster and more efficient drivers you can download from the website. It's just like for the video card; it comes with its own disc which will let you use it, but you'll get much better performance out of games if you download the most recent one.

Anyone ever tried using PhysX on an AMD setup?

It is, but instead on the Physx to be handled by the GPU, it would be handled by the CPU.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but what I'm saying is that it's not an uncommon occurrence for manufacturer to put up the wrong drivers for a product. Sometimes even the correct updated drivers can be dodgy, as they've patched or tried to improve something and it breaks something else.
All I'm saying is that installing drivers from the disc is your safest option, not necessarily the best option.

Updated drivers come out for a reason, otherwise the manufacturers wouldn't make them; they can increase stability, performance, or give new features. Just because the driver CD's "work" does not mean that you can not do better. That's like telling me to use the stock GPU drivers on the disk instead of downloading the online ones. I have a Z68 board myself, and installing newer USB3 drivers have increased my read/write performance with my external HDD, and updating my BIOS has allowed me to overclock another extra 0.2 GHz.

If you're building a computer for another person, of course it's a different story because CD's are slightly more convenient, but if it's your computer, I'd just rather have the most up-to-date software on my computer. Besides, you're not just "installing every driver you see;" You're installing drivers on an official page. If you don't trust the brand to put the correct drivers on the page (which I have never seen happen ever), then don't buy their products and condone that sort of behavior.

The motherboard Fluffy linked is a lot better, though. And why are you adding a 730W PSU to a build that only needs 400 at the most?

Yes, his motherboard is much better, but my video card is much better. Depends on what you need.

You don't even need 600. A seasonic M12II 520W would have been perfect.

But with mine, everything is better except the GPU, which would be satisfactory for his needs, and he can upgrade once the current GPUs are cheaper.

According to Passmark's CPU benchmarks, the 5800K is a lot more powerful than the 3220.

Your GPU is also less powerful.

I still say that mine is better for the price...
