You can't really upgrade anything on a laptop.

$1,200? I'd assume it's in Aussie dollars.

Do you need a monitor and OS?

Yes, I will need a monitor. OS, you mean operating system like Windows 7? Yeah I'l need that too.
$1,200 in Australia dollars. And then i can ask my shop if they can beat it. If not, I've still got the best for $1,200

What do you think of this?

Should be around $1072 AUD.

That's actually a pretty good deal and I like the specs, thanks alot. Shall be added to my favourites
Glad I could help.

Let me know how it turns out. :D

You could easily max out BF3 with that build. And I'd also recommend a boot SSD but that'll increase your expenditures.

Likely going to end up getting this motherboard or this one. Any other good ones I'm missing or any recommendations?

Who the hell do you think I am?

Go for the P8Z77

Do I really need a signature?

There is just something magical about leaning your head back, letting your eyes roll into the back of your head, and taking a piss while floating in the swimming pool.

I just built a computer today. The computer I am replacing it with I built back in 2005 around the AMD FX-60 chip, which is about the last high end chip AMD made.

This time I went with Intel i7 3770k

Intel i7 3770k (3.5ghz) Quad Core
ASUS p8z77 pro motherboard
16gb Corsair Vengance 1600mhz RAM
WD solid state 512gb hard drive
XFX Geforce 680 graphics card.
Blu ray player

Kept the same 27 inch monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

I've been checking stability today and so far so good.

Oh, I'm sticking with Windows 7.

You're like a slinky. Good for nothing, but you bring a smile to my face when I push you down the stairs.

Ok guys, quick question. If I install a power supply into my case and hook everything up, would the lights and fans come on? There would be nothing but a PSU and a case with lights. I just want to be able to check if the PSU is functioning properly.

How would the PSU turn on if you didn't hook up the power button to the motherboard?

AMD is a bit slow with their monthly driver updates...oops they've moved on from that, unfortunately.

How do many of you play without vsync? Are your PCs that good? I'm having trouble with it. I want to say that it could be my monitor, since it even tears when scrolling up or down on the web. How would I improve my desktop so I can play without vsync most of the time?

I have never used Vsynch in my life except to try it out, and I found it annoying. It's the fault of your monitor, not your computer. Buy a better monitor.

The stuttering is a bit annoying. My monitor is 60hz, but it's a bit old. Would another new monitor with the same Hz work better? Do I have to get a 120Hz one? :/

No, you just need to get a newer monitor. How much would you want to spend?

Indeed but I'm still envious of the build.

I'd go for the Gigabyte, but that's just me. I think they're more reliable, but Asus make just as good boards. Also the fact that it's cheaper and you get similar features =P

So, is anyone here getting MoH: Warfighter?

And if you're getting it, which platform? I'm split between Xbox 360 and PC.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

Quick question:
Do I need any tools besides a screwdriver to help build a computer? I don't need one of those things that sort of looks like a tattoo machine, do I?

It't better to have it now then not need it, than to need it and not have it.

No. Zip-ties would be helpful for cable management, but otherwise everything you need comes with your parts.
