I also faced difficulties choosing a card. Ended up choosing AMD due to their good price per performance ratio.

Seeing as how I still haven't ordered a GPU yet, anyone wanna help me choose one? Anywhere from $250-$350.

MSI 670
Seems like a good deal.
Although, AMD cards tend to be more bang for your buck, and Nvidia cards are good and all, but with PhysX calculation won't be loaded on the CPU.
So it depends, really.
It depends on which game you're playing and what res you're at.
There is no "better card for your buck" unless it's for a specific set of games that you play.

which card???????????????????????????????????????

Oh man. Oh man. Oh man. This is such a big advantage, it's godamned unfair.

The reason I don't play my Xbox anymore is because I can't use the controller.

Playing with a mouse + keyboard tends to do that.

I admit, I can't really use the controller now too. Not sure how will I fair out in Halo 4 when I get it.

Has anyone been having issues with Catalyst 12.10?

I updated to it on the 25th, and I've had a few odd blue screens while just randomly browsing online since then.

I just got back from Safe Mode where I ran a bunch of scans in both Avast and Malwarebytes and found nothing, so that pretty much rules out a virus.

I updated straight from 12.8, if that's of any importance.

I got these cheeseburgers man....

I feel so tempted to say AMD has no drivers to that, but I know it's not true.

Fare*

Anyway, I'm undecided, I'm not sure if the XIM Edge and XIM3 will work on the next xbox, because it's fairly expensive and I don't want to spend money on something that won't work next year.

Yeah, I hate having to press the analog stick to sprint, so I remapped it to my bumpers. The jerkiness of the sticks also annoys me.

I'm running 12.10 at the moment.

Thus far, I'm not encountering any blue screens.

I recommend running Driver Sweeper (get it from Guru3D.com), run it in Safe Mode, wipe all drivers and re-install 12.10.

But it might also inadverently delete your AMD chipset drivers if you have an AMD processor.

Loving my simple Logitech gaming mouse.

If may not have the bells and whistles but it works and it does its job well.

Yeah. But I'll have to make some serious trade-offs in order to afford a decent GTX 670. Bye bye SSD. :(

Well, I sacrificed the SSD for the GPU.

You can get great prices on a Sandisk SSD. I'd look at Microcenter, Amazon, and Newegg. If you don't like the price, check back another day because those tend to go on sale a lot. I once saw a 128GB Sandisk SSD go for like $75-$85.

I already built my rig with a Intel 330 120GB SSD + a Radeon HD 7950.

The AMD price drops for their cards is a godsend.

I have a gaming mouse and a regular keyboard. Mechanical keyboards are out of reach. :(

But maybe I'll get one next year or so.

I have a wireless keyboard and mouse, both standard.

It's a pain when the batteries die on me, but I'm hoping to get a mechanical and a wired mouse by Christmas

If you have to, definitely give up the SSD for a better GPU. I'd even pick a better audio setup than an SSD. I'm not saying they aren't great, but they seem way too expensive simply for faster load times.

Very few "AAA" games have PhysX and work well with it

[Edited on 11.08.2012 1:54 PM PST]

My Anime List | Steam.

Intel C2D E8400 3.8GHz | Asus P5Q Deluxe | Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 2GB Vapor-X | G.Skill 4GB DDR2 1066MHz | Windows 7 Professional x64 | Sennheiser HD555 | Leopold Otaku with Cherry MX Blues | Cyborg R.A.T. 7

You can still use Physx on Borderlands 2 if you have an AMD card. Rather than the GPU, the processing is offloaded onto the CPU. Don't know about other games though.

You can on Arkham City, so I think you can with other PhysX games.

Doesn't run very well if you've had to sacrifice a better processor for a better GPU
