I've got my eye on a 2TB WD Black. It has been on sale before, but I bet it'll go on sale again.

For the consumer market, 4TB, but obviously you can run multiple drives in RAID configuration if you need that much space. The Seagate 3TB is a much more popular choice because it goes on sale for $130.

You're like a slinky. Good for nothing, but you bring a smile to my face when I push you down the stairs.

Hey guys. I'm about to buy my motherboard for my new build, and I was wondering, if I hook up the power supply and the power button and the lights and fans, would it be safe to turn on the computer as a test to see if the lights work? Only the motherboard and the psu would be installed. Would this be safe?

A bit more expensive than a Green. IIRC, I bought my 2TB WD Green for $110. So a Black would be somewhere around that price.

I'm not sure. I believe the motherboard will turn on, but you won't even make it to the BIOS without a CPU. The least amount of parts that I would recommend would be:

CPU + HSF
RAM
Mobo
PSU

And be sure that the mobo is on an electrostaticly neutral platform, such as the box that the motherboard came in.

Hey guys.
I need to write an essay about Intel CPU Architecture and compare it to the Architecture of AMD's CPU's.

Which generation for each

They're all different

i5/i7 series.

I think he means Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge, Haswell, etc...

ALL HAIL GABEN

Go retro, go Athlon!

Seriously though....writing up something about the Athlon 64's would make a great paper....because they revolutionized gaming....at least from I hear.

There's multiple versions of each...

I don't know how you can compare AMD to Intel, Intel's own architecture in it's different generations are different enough from each other that you might as well compare it to it's older versions. Same with AMD.

Who asked you to write this? Can I have the full brief for the task?

My English teacher.
She said I should compare both as I'm tech savy.

Just tell her the same thing I told you, and compare Ivy with Haswell or something instead, AMD and Intel are radically different and you'll have plenty to write about Intel's own generations anyway, where would you even start with AMD vs Intel?

Thoughts on this keyboard?

I believe they have those on display, plus it's backlit and uses Cherry Reds.

I don't know.
I might just compare Sandy Bridge/Ivy bridge.
Or what you said.

I actually don't think there's much of a difference on PC gaming with Mech keyboards.

I own one, it's nice to type on, but in the heat of the game, I totally forget about it and I pretty much bottom out all the keystrokes. Actualization isn't a very big problem if all the keys you press are going all the way down.

However, it'll be a massive upgrade from my membrane keyboard.

It does the same thing that you case reset button would do. It's meant for people who don't have a case or are lacking those buttons.

And when holding the mobo, hold the edges.

I've seen people hold it by the top and bottom of where the RAM goes, it that OK too?

So it is Cooler Master, just like I thought.

Amazon would be cheaper, as the MX Blues are only $68, although blue actuate after the click, so they're mostly for typing. Reds are mainly for gaming, while Browns are a mix of the two; easy to press but click. Either the Reds or Browns would be a great choice.

Personally, I think you should do SandyB v IvyB, because I'm assuming they're pretty closely related, and the most recent.

I would grab it by the SATA ports.

So I went on Borderlands 2 and why do I suddenly have 11 Golden keys?

It registers the key in half of the distance. Is that not enough of a performance increase for you?

What would be a decent processor for gaming? I was looking at an i3 3220 because I'm on a low budget. Socket is 1155.
