Damnit guys, all these Nvidia and AMD bundle deals are driving me mad. On one hand, with the AMD bundle, I probably would only play one out of the four games, but get a better card. But with the Nvidia bundle, I'd play and enjoy both games, but get a somewhat worse card. What's your guys opinions on it? I really have no preference towards either company, so I'm welcome to go to either one.
If you take into account the CUDA cores on nVidia's cards, they'd be better for photo editing and video editing, if you do any of that. Would that persuade you to nab a 670?
Not really. I do a little bit of Photoshop stuff here and there, and maybe in the future a little bit of video editing, but not enough where the CUDA cores would be a deciding factor.
By the way, right now, I think my budget for the GPU is about $400, so I'm really either looking at a 7970 or higher end 670.

I think you can find room for this.
Perfect! You think I can fit it in with this build?

But no srsly, 7970 or 670?

hey guys, im finally getting the monitor for my build and im looking for about a 23 inch ips display with speakers. so far ive found these two monitors boop boop. I cant really decide between the two as i see no real difference. so i was wondering what you guys think, and if you have any alternate suggestions for a monitor within that spec/price range.

My super expensive build had eight of those SSD's, 6-blu rays, 1 fan controller, a water reservoir + water cooling, and seven monitors.

And 23 inches ;)

I'd save up for a BenQ or Dell Ultrasharp since I've never heard of that AOC brand.

Man I dunno....that's a pretty tight budget you have there.

ANYWAYS....the 7970 is better than the 670....unless it's going up against the 670 FTW Edition...then in that case...well...I dunno.

They're both great cards though. You can max out games to date with either.

Doesn't nVidia cards have better features (physX) that AMD doesn't offer? And from what I know, AMD doesn't offer anything that nVidia doesn't have.

Yes, but very few games actually make good use of physX and other features.

Yes, I could probably get the FTW version. Newegg lists the cheapest FTW at 409, so it would be attainable.

nVidia has more features, but AMD has better performance at high resolutions and overclocks better.

Alright, so I suppose this is going to be my build that should be finished on Christmas:

Processor(Un-Changed)
Graphics Card(Discontinued on Newegg, it was lower $200-$230)(Un-Changed)
Motherboard(Un-Changed)
RAM(Un-Changed
Hard Drive(Changed from this overpriced poop)
Power Supply(Un-Changed)
Case(Un-Changed)
Disk Drive is just regular DVD read/write...I have windows 7 now, and I plan on using a T.V. or a old monitor till I get a new one.

Alright, do you guys recommend any monitors for gaming and such. I have a T.V. but I will most like have 200-300 dollars extra for monitors. I do want 2 pretty nice ones that are 20-25 inches. I really don't mind it being 20 inches. I did here ASUS was a good brand, but do you guys have one you prefer. I just need the same monitor doubles with a thin-ish side bar. Just so I can line them up next to each other without a huge space of plastic in the middle.
Thanks In Advance.

I received a Dota II invite, who wants it? I already have the game.

So I installed an old 80GB HDD that I have lying around. It vibrates so bad when my desktop is on.

So in my case, one side is devoted to cable management and the other is where all the components and such go. When I mount my power supply fan up, the cables are on the wrong side. Is it possible to mount the power supply upside and fanside down? So as to keep the cables managed properly?

Is the PSU mount on the bottom of the case?

The PSU is installed in an orientation that the fan is facing downwards or towards the floor. You don't have to worry about dust build up as most cases with bottom mounted PSUs have dust filters.

Do old drives vibrate that much? My 1TB HD didn't even vibrate much when compared with this 80GB HDD from 2005.

Because it it outpeforms the 680, especially after overclocking, and you can usually find it for less than $400.

Yeah, I'm gonna get the 7970 just because of Far Cry 3. Just got done watching the trailer, and it looks sick.

Okay so im installing my graphics card and my motherboard has two PCI 3.0 slots. Does it matter what slot I plug my card into? It's difficult to get the card into the slot closest to the cpu because I have the sata 3 slots are right next to it and the card squishes them if I try and put it there. The other slot is closest to the PSU and it is rather easy to get the card into this slot. But does it matter which one?

  • 11.29.2012 4:16 PM PDT

MLP: FiM Master Moderator: | Homepage | My Steam Profile | My Computer |

Yes, it does matter because the top-most PCI slot will get better bandwidth.

Usually people put it in the slot closest to the CPU, IDK if it makes a difference.

Or what Fluffy said lol.
