From what I understand they are just as good as the 680 on non PhysX games.

And of course the Asus Matrix edition is pretty big and shiny lol...

Mother of 3 slot coolers...

YUP, thats why I love it!

Pretty good $1000 build right here. Now Wargamer is going to kick my ass with a build half the price. I never was good at going on a budget...

Bloop
If you got a less expensive case like the 200R you could bump the graphics card up to a 670

Also, change the 1x8 RAM to 2x4 for Dual Channel.

Not to mention I wanted windows 7.
So far, chip's 7950 build looks the best, even if it's the priciest.

Nevermind.

Change it to dual channel RAM.

I did.

And at the guy wants Windows 7....user that Windows 8 download for now since it's free and usable until January 15, 2013. So use that and then ask for Windows 7 as a Christmas gift or buy it using the money you get from Christmas.

My future 7970 will be ready for anything...
What do you think high performance means on the Crysis 3 website? I'm wondering how our 7970s will fare. Also, I wonder why they're recommending i7s...
Hi-performance = everything maxed out, all effects on (e.g motion blur) whilst maintaining a good frame rate. They recommend i7s because they're the best Intel processors (excluding x9xx ones) and of course your 7970 will do well. It is on the hi-spec list after all.

I'd thought I'd share my build.
Bip, Bap, my pc is sorta do for an upgrade, BamThink an upgrade is due some time next year?

I'm just wondering how many FPS we'll get, because I assume we'll be pretty much maxing it out.

I'm looking for a new build for the most part. I'll keep the HDD and graphics card, I want a new case, SSD and mobo, maybe a new cpu.

If you buy your stuff next year, I'd really just recommend a whole new system. DDR4 RAM will be coming out soon, and so will Intels new chip, meaning old motherboards won't be compatible any more. Plus, 250GB HDD is kinda small now-a-days, so I'd recommend buying a new HDD too. They're pretty cheap now. A new GPU might do you good too, but if you don't want to upgrade that, you can always use the old one.

Posted by: tr sargentEverything looks great, but stay away from that case. It's a god-awful case. Grab a Corsair 200R or 300R instead. If not that, get an NZXT Source 210 (Elite if you want USB3).

Took some pictures of the stuff that came in today. I was too lazy to move them a separate album lol. You guys will know when the pictures end.
Now you know why SeaSonic is so expensive; half of the price is spent on the packaging xD

Alright flood, give me the best $1000 build you got.
I want intel/nvidia, 8 gigs of RAM, and a 1tb Hard drive. Do take into account sales that may happen this month.
I may make a post like this again if I don't order any parts by the end of the month.
Go.
I've looked at all of the builds suggested to you, but in my opinion, this is your best option.

Fully modular PSU
Mid-end Corsair case
7950
Includes Windows 7

I really don't need a lot of HDD space in this machine. I have an HTPC for media.

But you're using this for gaming, correct? 250GB can fill up fast, even if you don't have media on it.

Do you guys even know how to make a budget build? This has the most power he's gonna find for that price range, seriously, I'm usually not good at budgets, but I think I did pretty good on this one.

Just a few quick questions for y'all.
First, I really love a quiet computer so in my case I removed the two fans that suck air into the case. On my CPU I have a huge Zalman fan encased in a 100% copper heat sink, which is currently blowing air into a case-mounted fan that blows that air out of the case. As of right now, I am doing no gaming, but I am using my PC for long periods of time on the internet, writing papers, and honestly just fooling around. Do you think this setup will do an adequate job of keeping everything cool? Also, is there anyway I can find the CPU temperature while on Windows i.e. not via bios?

Lol. First thing that caught my eye was the 690 and I knew instantly you were pulling my dick.

You can use this to monitor CPU and GPU temperatures.

Yes, that's perfect. My parts usually hover between 25-35 when idle. When under load, up to 60 is fine. Up to 70-75 pay some attention to it, and past 80-90 you should be very cautious. Usually after that the computer will shut itself down.

Awesome, thank you. My Case's fans were really loud so I pulled them out and am just using one fan and the cpu cooler and I just wanted to make sure I wasn't burning anything out.

So, if the Dual Channel ram isn't in every other slot, it won't boot right? They can't be next top each-other?
