SO I was actually looking at a 3gb 7970 that I was reccommended here. That would run Fallout and Skyrim beautifully no lag or anything right?

And just a quick question, the card I'm looking at says a minimum of 500 watt psu and I have a 600, but I've been told that 600 may still be not enough? is there any truth to that statement?

And lifetime warranty? >.< Not over looks IMO, plus how often does RAM fail??!?!?
I'd say there's about a 10% chance of receiving a bad stick upon shipment.

Not great enough a chance, and I'm sure Corsair has at least a 1 year warranty.
G.Skill has a lifetime warranty.

Yeah but ti looks horrible in my rig. The red and black color coded sticks match my mobo/case/gpu perfectly!

@ShockCommando Yeah the 7970 will run all new games at max setting flawlessly!

What is your complete build, I can give you an estimate of what is in the safe zone.

The term isn't lag, but every game that's out today would run at 60+ FPS at 1080p.

And a 600W power supply is plenty fine. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know squat about power supplies.

The 7950 is a better deal, but in the end the 7970 outperforms it. Whichever suits you budget best.

7950 is definitely one of the best bang for you buck cards out there now, but if you have the extra $100, and you don't have anything else you want to spend it on, then get the 7970.

Just trying to see what's out there as I might consider buying / building a PC in the near future. As you can tell I'm not very knowledgeable on the matter. Can anyone suggest a decent build for $950ish?
here

Let me know if you need a monitor, OS, keyboard, mouse, headset or anything else like that to fit with the budget.
Why have you always suggested that $150 Gigabyte mobo in the past 20 builds you've posted when an AsRock or ASUS would perform better for less?

nVidia closed beta changes your settings to ultra for you. It's difficult to actually figure out how good it is when they're comparing PhysX on and off. Of course, it's only useful for budget cards.
Gigabyte boards actually have better quality VRMs for overclocking.

Somewhere around there I think.

Oh ok. Was wondering when I should expect to hear about the 700's.

  • 12.06.2012 5:13 PM PDT

Okay. So finally I fixed the problem that gave me no post. The stupid Hyper 212 had some insulating tape torn of in manufacturing and it was shorting the area of the Mobo around my CPU. So I fixed that with electrical tape.

But, my case fans stopped working last night. I have the NZXT Phantom and they are plugged in via the 4-pin Molex cable to the PSU. I need help.

The cards usually go about a year before they start advertising a new series.

Are you SURE that it was torn off during manufacturing and you didn't accidentally do it yourself? It's a pretty common mistake among people new to Hyper 212 HSF's.

Yes it was no doubt done by something other than me. 100% sure.

But as I fixed one problem, another shows up. The NZXT Phantom 410 fans stopped working. I have them plugged into to the PSU via the molex cable.

Try using a different fan with the NZXT fan. If you don't have one, check the other end of the fan cable under the IO port and make sure it didn't become loose.

Yeah, I checked all the wires and they seem fine. Also, all three fans aren't working. I emailed NZXT tech support.

My guess is either:

(a) All three fans broke at once. (Highly improbable)
(b) Wiring is messed up somehow.
(c) The Fan controller is busted. (Most Likely)

Do the fans work with the motherboard? If not, the short circuit from the 212 could have blown them.

  • 12.06.2012 6:42 PM PDT

Oh and by the way, will the Hyper 212 brace shorting the Mobo out have long term damage?

Or was it just preventing it from working while it was shorting?

It could have caused long-term damage. I've never had an issue with not having the insulating tape applied correctly, but then again, I always check for it before screwing anything in. How long did you have the computer powered before you turned it off? If it was more than a few seconds, then that's not a good thing. You always want to leave the side panel off and check for broken fans or LED's and turn the power off right away if anything is wrong.

Speculation about Radeon 8xxx.

Cheap mechanical keyboard.

Mouse guide.

I'd suggest the Deathadder if you want a larger mouse or the G9x if you want a smaller one. I posted the MW3 version because the regular version is $70. You can remove the logo with some rubbing alcohol and you can change the LED light colors with the drivers.

Want Coup? Here it is for Chrome.

[url=http://iggyhopper.dyndns.org/gm/extensions/coup_d_bungie _4.crx[/url]

This is my revised build.

I was thinking about the XFX 7950 but a lot of reviews said it failed often.

With the current build what can I expect out of performance?

I would highly suggest changing the case since it lacks USB 3 and rubber grommets for cable management. The 300R is reasonable close to that price.

660 benches.
