Looks great, although be aware that you can get an ASUS optical drive for the same price, or an LG for $15. The RAM also requires you to do some XMP settings to make it run 1866, although you can make it run at 1600 without doing too much. You can save $10 by getting 1600 MHz.

It's $1.50. What do you have to lose?

I think about $1.50

Is this a good build

You don't need 16gb RAM, unless you are running space shuttle cruises for NASA. For gaming, 8GB is plenty for the foreseeable future. Get more if you edit vids, but not for gaming.

Also, the 680 is a cracking card, but the 670 is euqally as good, and £100-£150 less, for about 95% the same graphics. I have the EVGA GTX 670 FTW Edition (2GB) and it maxes every game on the market. Running Battlefield 3, Guild Wars 2 and and Starcraft 2 all on ultra.

the flood, there a bunch of jerks, but there my jerks.

Not quite equally as good, it usually gets 10 less FPS. But yes the 680 is pretty frikin pricey.

Got most of my parts yesterday. Just waiting on the GPU. Might start assembling tonight, but most likely tomorrow. Gonna ride the integrated GPU until my dedicated GPU arrives.

My parents looked at me funny last night and said "Wow, that case is huuuuge!"

I laughed.

I pretty much fixed the stuttering by playing the game in a windowed option. It happens less frequently now, and it feels great!

Now that this seems like a solution, could this help zero in on what was causing my stuttering before using windowed mode?

Looks like it's going to be a nice build. Prodigy builds are always cool to see. What graphics card are you getting?

At this point I am almost certain it is your graphics card.

As in, me not using the correct options from the control panel, or that it's not "powerful?"

The physical card is too weak, getting old, or has some issues in its hardware. Buy a new card.

You could only have two 690s, since you can't SLI more than two. And really the 690 isn't a big card, it's just slightly longer than usual. If you want to see a big card, search up the PowerColor Devil 13 7990. Now that card is just huge.

No other card has three 6-pins for one GPU.

And you can quad-SLI GTX 680's ;)

Yeah that thing's huge. You'd need at least a full tower, right? And how many of those could you Crossfire? 2?

You could put 4 of them on a motherboard but you couldn't SLI them. I mean, that would be 8 GPUs.

Oh, misread that as 690s. Yeah, you could do quad-SLI 680s but you'd have to water cool them to get them to fit on the motherboard.

I hope whoever has it setup like that has some pretty damn good air circulation in their case... (If that's not an X79 board either I'm gonna hit something)

Laptop $585
Monitor $160
Mouse $36
Keyboard $16

Does that look good?

Turns out my mother is willing to use her laptop as the make shift "desktop" as her workplace supplied her with a new one. It's old enough, but it was powerful for it's time, and it's still a great PC.

I'll still use the monitor you recommended, as well as the keyboard and mouse. She also wanted to upgrade the RAM, from 4GB to 8GB, which is where my problem lies; wtf is with these DDR2 prices?!
