Since this thread appeared right on the front-page as a lucky coincidence, I have a question: What does the Flood think of this computer?
There's nothing wrong with it but you could get way more bang for your buck if you went with a custom built computer instead. You don't even have to build it yourself, there are plenty of sites, legitmate sites, out there that will do it for you. They usually have their recommended packages and then a customization section, for those who want to get more specific and know what they're doing or simply want another look on their case. Many of the bigger electronics sites have implemented gaming rig sections too nowdays, that's where I got my rig and it looks like they didnt add much, if any, for putting it together.

Just to give you an idea, this was one of the first results when I googled "gaming PC UK" (I noticed that you link had the price in £) and it's probably far from the best/cheapest you can find.

It's not bad...but overpriced.

  • 12.22.2012 8:10 PM PDT

Yes, I know I could get more for that money but the way I am financing it here with a special christmas-action from our store, it doesn't make a difference. I did the math.
I have actually tried (with help) to make a better one and indeed ended up with something better for the same price, but then had to pay ~15% extra for various things I need (don't want to explain it all now). Something I can't afford.

Do you think this mentioned computer can run Crysis 2 at full settings on 1920x1080?

I hear ya but I looked around for computers in that price range on for me "local sites" and found this:

Case: Fractal Design Arc Mini
PowerSupply: Corsair CX 600W V2 80+
SSD: SSD 120GB Force 3
MC: MSI H77MA-G43 H77
Processor: Intel® Core i7 3770K, 3,5GHz
RAM: 2 x Corsair 8GB Module DDR3 1600MHz
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB - 6Gb/s - 7200rpm - 64MB
Optic unit: Samsung 22X DL - SH-222BB/BEBE
GFX: GeForce GTX 670 OC 2GB DDR5
Soundcard: High Definition Audio 5.1
Network: Gigabit Ethernet, 10/100/1000 Mbps
Connections: 2 x DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort
OS: Windows8
Addtional: Microsoft SideWinder X4 Keyboard - SteelSeries.....

The same thing but with another PS and a gtx680 was only slightly more.

I'm worried about how the case on a "brand computer" can come to affect you in the event that you'd like to upgrade some of the components at some point.

Hey guys. I'm looking for a router. We have 4 smart phones, two computers, two consoles, and a tablet that we want a good connection on. No preferred brand.

ASUS
Ok but could you link a specific router?

Bloop

I don't think I've ever since a sexier router.

Just an FYI, never use anandtech for GPU benchmarks. They use outdated drivers and don't even list the max boost clocks.

I was under the impression that the mechanical ones were quite loud. I'm usually online late hours and wall to wall with another bedroom in the house so that wouldnt be ideal. Not to mention that I havent come across one with additional keys in the arrow section and where I can separate the parts. Not saying that it doesnt exist but I havent seen one over here.
Return that keyboard immediately.

And you can get MX-reds with O-ring mods.

Would this mouse be any good?
Yeah, that's a great mouse.

Everything looks good. And there is no guide because unlike in previous generations, you don't have to worry about compatibility.

You better be right cause I'm about to get the parts now. I'm pretty sure everything is going to work, but I'm not COMPLETELY sure. If something goes wrong with the case, power supply and the motherboard then I'm going to get them returned and call you a poopy head.

Multiple speakers in a headset is a lie.

I was thinking about my fan setup.

I have two 120mm chassis fans, and a much smaller 60ish mm fan that I pulled out of another PC.

I have the BitFenix Prodigy. My Motherboard has a single fan port.

I would like to have both 120mm fans (front and back) running at the same speeds. The smaller 60mm, I would like running slower, as I don't want it trying to compete with the power of the 120mm fans by running faster and thus louder.

What are my best options? Does plugging fans into my PSU with adapters allow me to control them from my OS/BIOS? Should I get an adapter to split my single motherboard port into 3 ports? Would there be some sort of voltage/watts problem with doing that? Does a splitter mean that all fans connected to it must run at the same speed?

How about for the future? What about if I want to eventually add another intake fan up front, and two fans on top?

It'll run whatever you throw at it, but you could build one much better for the same price.

He's not moving in the house yet, their house is undergoing renovation.

However I did follow him the other day to a store to replace some other appliances that failed.

I've picked for a friend's build a MSI 7850, i5 2500k and this mobo
He picked the case and the HDD.
I mean, he only plays CoD so he didn't really need a strong GPU.

Wow, that's a very expensive motherboard. It's definitely nice, but is there any reason you didn't go with a UD3H and put the money saved towards a 7870? If he only plays COD, he probably would have benefited more from the graphics card than the motherboard.

Actually, the 7850 has better voltage control than the 7870, so it overclocks higher.

Why so much on the mobo?

Also, guys, when I'm setting up my Windows install, should I partition my HDD so that the OS itself is on one partition, and all my data and installs are on another?
