Picked up a 660 Ti today. I'm not gonna open it up until after Christmas...to see how much money I get. If I get enough...i'm gonna take my 660 Ti back to CompUSA and use that money + my Christmas money to get a 670 FTW Edition.

Good choice - thats the one I bought.

You will be a happy Wargamer indeed.

I'll never understand why Nvidia is so popular ITT.

Well, I went with Nvidia because I read a lot of reviews and they came out on top.

I also had the luxury of being able to afford whatever I wanted, and the 670 was the best for price / performance in my opinion.

But it all comes down to personal prefernce. I have no brand loyalty, as this was my first build. I just took my time and read up on what I wanted and what was on offer at the time.

Me neither. Currently AMD has the lead when it comes to price-performance, with their cards performing the same or better than NVIDIA cards for often $100 less (for example, the $400 or less 7970 performs better than the $500 680.) But according to some people, Physx and CUDA are a must have (which they aren't, by the way)

That doesn't matter at all. You can't use biased in an argument against actual facts. Maybe at the time, early in the year, when I bought the 670 was it a good deal but now with AMD's new drivers and price reductions, it's a no brainer to go with them over NVIDIA.

I would have gone with AMD if it wasn't for Borderlands 2's or Alice:Madness Returns use of PhysX.

I went with AMD because the 7950 after the price reduction is too good of a deal.

In the end, I wasn't disappointed. The 7950 is a beefy card.

That's fine, if you can find a great deal on NVIDIA cards then go for it, they aren't bad cards at all.

How do I apply thermal paste?
Pea sized.

Also, 7970 master race.

Can you take pictures of where it's conflicting? You could cut the backplate.
Not my picture as mine is currently installed and I just woke up. I didn't even take into consideration whether the backplate was touching any metal on the motherboard, either. I'm assuming that would also cause problems.

The red area is where I'm having conflicts. The circuits in the area raise the backplate, actually making the bolt not long enough to reach the nut. I get the impression Asus didn't want aftermarket CPU coolers on this motherboard.

The green area is one of the things I was asking about. If I were to put something non-conductive on the bottom of the case actually holding up those areas, would it not work?

From my experience, AMD just has plain bad marketing. The numbering system isn't as straightforward as Nvidia's numbering (backwards in some cases when compared), and their variety in every field isn't helping them. The consumer wants a tidy package and Nvidia is pretty good on delivering that message. Only those targeting specific applications and getting into the numbers would look at the AMD lineup. The more broad your target gets, the more appealing Nvidia's system looks. Once you get the consumer the first time and don't fail their expectations (which is difficult to fail on) you've got them good.

I've found they're both very easy to understand. AMDs x7xx is worse than their x8xx, and the x9xx is the best of them all. The xx50 is the lowest of that product line, while usually the xx70 is the highest. Nvidias is pretty easy too, when the number gets bigger, the product gets better, and the ti version of that model is better than the normal model. I don't see where a lot of people are saying Nvidia is more popular ITT. I see a lot of builds with AMD products.

Should I stress test my CPU or anything when I get everything running for the first time?

You should let the thermal paste sink in and settle fully. This time period varies depending on the thermal paste you used, and you should refer to the instructions provided by the maker.

So, don't stress test until the thermal paste is fully settled?

You're not going to get the best results temperature-wise until the thermal paste is settled in fully.

How much would a PC with console tier graphics cost?

How much would a PC with console tier graphics cost?
Probably $400, but considering that whatever you buy will be brand new hardware, while the Xbox still uses hardware that is 5 years old, it will be better no matter what.

7 years actually.

I'd say more close to $500 actually. With $400 you could probably get the A10-5800K, but at $500 you could even fit in a 7850.

Why does the build need more then 4GB of RAM?

Yeah, but I just noticed that one doesn't have a hard drive. This one does though: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tVmy

What you could do here is switch the 3220 with a Phenom X4 965 and get a cheaper AMD board, but it wouldn't perform as well as the i3. With the money saved you could be at your budget and get a 7770, or you could spend a little more and get the 7850.
