Yeah, it should work.

By the way, the third fan has to have a 4-pin cable to connect to the motherboard; with fans connected to the motherboard, the first three pins power the fan and the fourth allows adjustments to be made to it. You can plug a three pin cable into a four pin connecter, but you wont be able to control it.

I was under the impression you could control the speed with voltage?

My 3-pin fans that are connected to my motherboard can be controlled through the BIOS.

That's what I thought. I had always heard that the 4th pin simply enables easier control.

Should I stress test my CPU or anything when I get everything running for the first time?

You should let the thermal paste sink in and settle fully. This time period varies depending on the thermal paste you used, and you should refer to the instructions provided by the maker.
So, don't stress test until the thermal paste is fully settled?
The thermal paste should have fully spread if you tightened the backplate in a diagonal order. Stress testing would cause the CPU to produce a lot more heat, forcing the thermal paste to settle out more.
I'm not actually quite sure what you mean by the tightening and stuff, maybe I'll understand tomorrow. Also, you're saying I should stress test it then tomorrow once it's all running?

There's no real need to, but it won't hurt. I usually just run MemTest to make sure that none of the RAM sticks are faulty.

As long as your mobo has a x16 lane slot and two spare 6-pins, you can buy whatever.

GPU

Are there other options? Is this the best for that price? Don't get me wrong, I trust your knowledge, but I'm just curious to know some more choices :)

The 7850 is the same pricepoint, but lacks PhysX, adaptive vSynch, and nVidia's special AA options like CSAA, which I think you said you wanted. This one also comes with a free game.

Comparison.

7850.

Looks like I'll be taking the nvidia card.
If you can manage it, the 7870 would do wonders.

Well then, now I'm indecisive about what card to get.

But it do.

I too got my last parts! I'll finish putting it together after I get home from breakfast with the family.

I was having some trouble with the mobo. Putting those standoffs in is a -blam!-! Its like they're too short short something.

I got these cheeseburgers man....

Merry Christmas everyone! Just got my PSU, heatsink, HDD, and DVD drive. I'll be putting it together once I get back to my moms, and you guys know how long that'll take. Then I'll probably have family over, so no play today, maybe...

But, how about tomorrow we all have a game day? What game can we play that everyone has?

Yeah, I'm up for trying out my new headphones on some games.

Left 4 Dead 2? Borderlands 2?

Co-op would be nice.

Oh wait...maybe I can't join because I still can't get a PSU. Oh well...

That sucks bro, really does.
Right now I have the two Batman games, Metro, Far Cry 3, new Hitman, and Sleeping Dogs, I'm gonna download BF3 today, and maybe Borderlands 2 as well. Also, I'll be getting Crysis 1 and 2.

Also, here's a great comparison of the 680 vs the 7970. There are plenty of other games tested, this page of the review shows BF3: http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/3714/4/radeon-hd-7970-and-gef orce-gtx-680-tested-with-10-cpus-battlefield-3

My pull this year. I can honestly say that reds are better than browns.

They broke rule #1 of graph-making. Always start with zero for the y-axis. They trick you into thinking the 7970 is immensely better when it's only marginally better.

Help. I got all my parts today and I was going to do a test boot, but when I plug in the power connectors and press the power button on the chassis nothing happens.

Don't you have to touch some piece on the motherboard with a screwdriver or something?

Only with motherboards that don't have a power switch on them.

Don't bother with a test boot. I've never done it on the 30+ computers that I've built and they all worked fine.

I was only doing it because I'm bored. My case came with standoffs that are too short and all stores are closed today.
