"There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I'd like to think that I walk that line every day."

I'm quite sure that my [old] current email has been used for spamming others, so I'm attempting to change everything important (Steam, Apple ID, Paypal, XBL, Bungie.net) to my new email address, so that I may permanently delete this old one.

However, since I've ran into trouble with Bungie.net and Windows Live ID's (my new email is a Gmail) a long time ago, before I go any further, I'd like to confirm my suspicion(s) that:

1) Because Bungie is no longer tracking Halo stats and is no longer responsible for the Halo universe, it wouldn't matter if I were to delete my current Hotmail address, EXCEPT for the fact that a Hotmail/LiveID is required for Bungie.net sign-in. If I were to do so, my Bungie.net profile would be gone, correct?

2) If I were to circumvent the consequences of #1 by creating a new LiveID for the sole purpose of signing in to Bungie.net, that would still create an issue because my GamerTag wouldn't be able to be linked again for future Bungie-Xbox-Live-related game use, no?

If anyone familiar with this vicious cycle could give me input on those two issues (I can't think of any more, but if there's something I've missed, please let me know), that'd be great.

I am actually not even sure about this. Bungie isn't working with Microsoft, to my knowledge. So I don't think you can link your GT anymore anyway....

Unless they have still been given XBox linking...... an Employee would know the most though. I don't have a clue to be honest.

I doubt it, but maybe linking a GamerTag to two accounts is possible.

Although it doesn't seem probably with the current Bungie.net site, with future updates, there will probably be stat tracking for future Bungie games, and I'd like to be able to have access to that while keeping my current GamerTag.

Unless someone knows how to identify what's wrong with my email, when multiple full system malware/virus scans don't pick up anything on my PC, yet my email sends/receives spam and viruses.

I don't think you can link two accounts to a single Gamertag, I mean I haven't tried it before but I don't think it would work. Who knows. You may as well try..... or message somebody who knows. Archonous is floating around, send him a quick PM.

I can guarantee the new Bungie games will support stat tracking, and since they are with Activimoney I mean Activi$ion, it will have a different linking method to Microsoft. So you may be able to keep your current GT.

You could have accidentally signed up to a Spam server. You could use your email from a separate computer and remove it from this one. Or message windows live for assistance, they could block the traffic.

Try changing your email password. Had the same issue and everything stopped as soon as Inchanged my password.

Yeah, I tried that a few weeks ago. It made a difference, but the issue was still at hand.

I mean, the Viagra ads and hook-up requests is something that everyone must put up with. Phishing everyone I've messaged (I tried deleting my contacts as well, no dice) is a bigger problem.

I'm wondering if simply changing the Windows Live ID that's linked to my GamerTag would work. But I have a hunch that that might screw things up further.
