My brain still hasn't entirely processed what I just read for the past half and hour.

I can't find the words...

How much Halo: CE did in their first couple of months? Now add 10 years of making one of the most amazing games (Halo), Bungie is well know now, I bet a lot of people are thinking whatever Bungie has to offer it's not gonna be less than awesome.

The thing about Marathon really came out of nowhere. Was quite surprised about that bit. Also, four is quite a weird number. Wonder why it was settled on that instead of a trilogy.

Probably referring to people who update the game, fix post-release bugs, maintain servers and what not. That's what pops into my head right away after reading that part of the document.

I'd buy it.

This world wants to drag you down... And the weight, that guilt they want to hang around your neck, you don’t have to carry it one more step. You think they won’t let you rest, but it’s not up to them. It never was.

Isn't "Marathon" just a codename for another project, or am I mistaken?

Didn't Bungie renew the Marathon copyright around the time they signed with Activision?

An Action Shooter game. I was hoping Bungie would do something different.

Y'know, I think I remember that actually. And now that I think about it, codenaming one game after another game seems a bit silly. It may very well be a Marathon game, but what shape or form is left to be seen.

"We live in a special time; the only time where we can observationally verify that we live in a very special time" - Lawrence Krauss.

I was a finalist :P

West, Zampella, and their attorney - Robert M. Swartz - appear to be the main men behind this reveal; asking for it to be submitted in court to further support West and Zampella's claim about being unfairly dismissed due to a dispute which happened mid-2010, a claim about how their request for more "creative authority" in the Call of Duty franchise be given to them provided they lower the amount of royalties they earn if Bungie made the deal with Activision Blizzard.

But I don't see why they can't provide the contract which allows them to have this "creative authority" rather than leak a contract about the new IP Bungie are about to release in 2013. It seems more of a vandetta on top of the $36 million they are trying to collect before they go and possibly join Activision's rivals - Electronic Arts Inc.

Like people have said already in this thread, it could be a prequel of some sorts or a game set in the same universe.

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

I hope the new Marathon game comes out sooner. My urge to play a Bungie game that is actually controlled by Bungie is strong.

I'd imagine someone who plays MMOs could tell us, it sounds almost like in game moderators. Maybe part of the game requires active participation from the staff other than just patching.

The term Game Master is also kind of funny, it makes me think of Dungeons and Dragons or something, but who knows. It's just speculation.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

A Marathon Game? Holy -blam-.

Marathon was a FPS that looked like it had sprite animations. It would be insanely different today than it was years ago.

Also in the last Marathon game we went to the end of the universe and into "infnity".

I think that the Marathon game is going to probably be like a phone/ipad game. Like how some people ported Marathon to play on smartphones.

But, I guess we won't hear anything about their new game till 2013, it sucks that all this info was revealed before Bungie was ready.

And 5 million units in 6 months, WOW. This game must be pretty massive.

It's possible. I don't know much about MMO's though.

They are the creators of Halo, expectations are high, but if anyone can do it, Bungie can.
But, I guess we won't hear anything about their new game till 2013, it sucks that all this info was revealed before Bungie was ready.Yeah, that does suck. The game is scheduled to release in fall of 2013. Meaning, if they go the route I think they are going, based on their past, a teaser should be shown soon (E3 or Bungie day), then stuff sprinkled throughout the year, a lot more info during the beginning of 2013, GDC and other conventions and stuff. A huge media blowout at E3 2013, and a huge marketting campaign a month or 2 before release.
I think that the Marathon game is going to probably be like a phone/ipad game. Like how some people ported Marathon to play on smartphones.I don't think that would take too many people. I believe Marathon has already been ported to the iPad, not sure :/

As for the Marathon game, do you guys think it could be being developed by Marcus Lehto and those other employees? I know Marcus isn't working on Destiny, he's working on a different project. And to think, Bungie working on 3 different projects at the same time, I know they're big, but are they THAT big? Also, the contract says not more than 5% of Bungie employees can work on other projects. Bungie has to be basically full force on Destiny.

So I'm thinking Marcus and his team are working on the marathon game. Would make sense, wouldn't it?

OMG, I just released something.

Marathon was released in December 21, 1994. It's 20th anniversary is coming up soon. Maybe that is what it is, a Marathon anniversary.

I am just as curious of this Marathon game as I am of destiny. There have already been 3 marathon games and Pathways into Darkness which was the prequel to Marathon.

There next Marathon game is probably between the timeline of Pathways into Darkness and Marathon 1. At least that is what I am guessing.

But I find it is really odd that there would be a new Marathon game, because it is so old and Marathon is not a modern FPS. (It had 2-D monsters in a simulated 3-D world, like Doom in a way).

But this info shows Destiny is a 4 game series also. I think this is a lot of info we shouldn't of seen.
