We know Bungie is in several teams so it is safe to assume that there is already plans being set in motion for the next project, Marathon, and the current project.

I figured it was the "smaller" project Lehto's team was working on. Gotta know how stoked you were when you found out they were making another Marathon.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Marathon is "okay", it is not necessarily favorite Bungie game (It still is a good game though). I have played it a bit with people but I rarely play it and it can make you have motion sickness.

I think it is interesting that they are remaking Marathon when the series ended as the universe reverted into itself destroying everything in 1 explosion.

The 2 year development cycle gives me mixed feelings. On one hand the wait is shorter and we get more games. On the other hand, I am worried about Bungie delivering the same quality with less time. Of course, Bungie has been rapidly expanding, so it probably has the manpower needed to pull of this task.

I'm sure Bungie have expanded considerably over recent years - and bearing in mind the first 'Destiny' has probably been on the drawing board for some time, hopefully Bungie will be off to a good start. Looking forward to hearing more!

To me this is like knowing what you're going to get for Christmas for the next 10 years... It ruins it in a way.

It is only a matter of time before more major parts of the game are leaked also.

I am surprised this surfaced. It ruins a lot of the surprise.

Agreed that's why I didn't really read the article just Know 2013, and a series of games.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

So what do you guys think Bungie will do differently from everyone else to get their mmo to standout and last?

Five million copies sold on one or possibly two generations of Xbox consoles in six months for a new IP does not sound easy. I'm sure Bungie could pull it off though.

Wake me, when you need me.

Does anyone else think that Activision is going to run Bungie into the ground?

  • 05.22.2012 7:31 AM PDT

I'm very excited for next year now! I think the first game will be more epic than CE... I'm hoping that game 1 is done and being refined and 2 is in development. If it's 360 exclusive they should have a good grasp on how to already have it great.

Second note, since i actually went through and read most the pages, I see a common thought about Bungie not being in control... I'd like to point out that their vd said they were given more creative freedom in Reach than any other game and it was more of a game they would call their own... yet we have hundreds of haters out there. I'm not a fan of hypocrits, so lets just all embrace the love of big bright blue and get ready for e3!

ps thank you to all the people who do hardcore research.

I don't see how. Blizzard is in partnership with Activision and they're still rolling in money, if not more.

I've been thinking about it and I decided that I really doubt this will be a pay-to-play MMO. It'll be a console game, predominantly, and the release schedule, although perfectly fine due to Bungie's size and pre-planning, would be pretty tight for an MMO. An MMO typically has a very long lifespan, partially extended through numerous expansion packs and DLC. Each Destiny game has exactly one expansion pack.

I think the phrase "massively multiplayer style" is probably more accurate than people are giving it credit for, in that I believe it will take many elements from MMOs without being a traditional MMO.

Or it will be a free-to-play standard MMO supported by DLC and microtransactions. Either way, I don't pay for additional services on top of XBL, so I certainly hope it's free, or it'll take a lot of convincing for me to play it.

Having quality and standards, isn't the same thing as having money.

I't looks like it will have a Guild Wars model in terms of funding for it's servers and back end.

The Bungie name carries a lot of weight to halo fans, not just the halo brand.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

To be honest, not alot of the information shown is all that surprising. One bit that confuses me is that it says the games code name is 'Destiny', I thought 'Tiger' was the code name and Destiny was the real name.

The rest has been talked about loads on here already, I think everyone was fairly certain is was going to be a sci fi game with an MMO style. I dont think Bungie should be too concerned, theres not an awful lot to take from that contract that isnt to be expected.

Wait a minute! They're going to make sequels and include DLC! OMG!!1!1

My opinion on that quote from Bungie, ios that right now Halo:Reach and CoD are both Massively Multiplayer.... heck at any given hour of the day there are over 10,000 people playing. I think Bungie is planning on raising the bar!

I believe this is the most interesting part of the contract, especially the part in the parentheses.

The Destiny property, planned to be a Massively-multi-player style (i.e., client based mission strucures with persistent elements), sci-fantasy, action shooter games.

I'm with Rich on this one. I think best part is there in the parenthesis. Are we creating our own missions? It was mentioned in the ViDoc that "eventually the world would become the players universe."

Based on the speculation I'm reading all over the internet, I would say a MMO style game with "games" and "missions" in the middle. Win and get steak.

My old Halo 2 account is Devil brothers

I feel kind of sorry for Bungie, I wonder if they'll still do some kind of viral for the game.

funny how Bungie said nothing in the article. some how this all seems like speculation to me. may not, but i think it is still to early to say for sure about this info.
