So much information, damn I missed a lot. Seems like we learned some new stuff but the entire ball didn't drop here. I smell more during E3, 2012 but not too much.

Marathon is also involved at some capacity, which is exciting.

Edit: I also remain steadfast in my belief that New Alexandria's Space Fighting in Halo: Reach was foreshadowing for stuff we will see in Destiny. Just saying.

Per audacia ad astra. Halo Reach | Destiny

Wow, this is.. crazy. So now we've got 3 upcoming Halo games and 4 Destiny games confirmed, and the possibility of a new Marathon title? Feels awesome to know this, but it's such a shame the way it was "announced"/leaked.

KOTOR where this happens:

To me this is like knowing what you're going to get for Christmas for the next 10 years... It ruins it in a way.

I agree with this.

I hope the new Marathon game comes out sooner. My urge to play a Bungie game that is actually controlled by Bungie is strong.
Destiny seems pretty well controlled by Bungie. The flow of money into the project may have some conditions and restrictions, but they seem to be incharge of the whole ordeal.

If you played Halo: Reach's campaign, the level New Alexandria has a part at the end where you fly a space ship and have to shoot down other ships and whatnot. I believe that there will be some sort of spaceship fighting integrated into Destiny, akin to what we saw in Reach.

The level was Long Night of Solace, but I suppose that theory makes sense.

You mean the same gameplay mode that they said was too boring to make a multiplayer version of?

This world wants to drag you down... And the weight, that guilt they want to hang around your neck, you don’t have to carry it one more step. You think they won’t let you rest, but it’s not up to them. It never was.

Massively mutliplayer style shooter with dogfights? Sounds a little like Planetside... or maybe Battlefield 3, except better, and in space.

Agreed. I didn't expect that much to ever be leaked.

To me, this contract deal does not look very beneficial to Bungie. However, I'm just glad they didn't go into partnership with EA.

3 things to ponder:

1. "starside" has been struck through with a line on the main blog page.

2. Only 5% of Bungie can work on Marathon 4? That's going to make it very hard to work on and get completed. ODST was essentially a Campaign and a Survival mode expansion to Halo 3. I view it as its own game but that's just me. ODST still had a large team working on it. Unless Bungie has a ton of staff now, that's going to be a lot of stress.

3. A game every 2 years? Ouch. I wish Bungie all the best of luck. That is no easy task.

@Helveck

Just an Average Joe...

It's fun to talk about... But I'm kind of disappointed in the broad sharing of this intel. To be honest, if I had learned of this information, I would not have shared it. This is Bungie's creation, and rightfully theirs to debut; that article and now us exposing it to so many people has sort of killed the excitement for them.

They call me the Sandwich King

"The power of the mind can overcome any obstacle." - IRON WOLF 412

I am a bit shocked by this leak, I was expecting to possibly hear some stuff about their next game on Bungie day. When I heard about it this morning I couldn't wait to get to a computer to find out more. I had my suspicions for a long while on what their next game would be like (as I'm sure most of the community has) ever since their O Brave new world video and from the sound of things now it is kind of what I was expecting.

Ba-BOMB!
"We joked about it from time to time and even had a rough version of it working very early on in development," said Halo's creative director Marcus Lehto in the latest issue of Game Informer magazine.

"But the mechanics of it were pretty silly and we very quickly realised that the resulting gameplay experience wouldn't hit the bar we were aiming for, nor justify the amount of work required," he added.

"With so many features and so much content already committed, Reach was an incredibly ambitious project on an already aggressive schedule."
That's not to say that it will never happen, but at least from my experience of space combat simulators, more time is spent in an infinite cycle where you are trying to loop your opponent into view while he is trying to loop you into view, the first person to break the looping path gets shot down by his enemy, so it becomes an altogether boring game.

I'm pretty sure Bungie wouldn't enter into a contract that didn't benefit them.

Bungie is becoming the very thing they hated. Making a marathon game? I thought they were beating a dead horse if they did do another? MMO? What the -blam!-. Bungie better not be the Bioware of Activision. They are worth more than this.

After 20 years, the horse skeletonizes and if you start beating on it again you can use it's ribcage as a xylophone and produce interesting but eerily haunting music.

...Don't worry about it guy. 20 years is a ton of time.

MMO? What the -blam!-. Bungie better not be the Bioware of Activision. They are worth more than this.Yes of course! Because the game is vaguely said to contain MMO elements that means it's going to become exactly like The Old Republic!

...Again, don't worry about it guy.

Well, maybe at this time Bungie will hire massive employees. Making this could push them to create 2 major team for develloping Destiny every 2 years... It's the most reasonable thing to do if you want to maintain the release secure.
