"Don't worry I'll hold his hand"

The whole thing about them only being allowed to have 5% of employees working on a new marathon game, is complete bull blam! If they have roughly 200 employees then that means that they can only have 10 people working on the game and that's extremely dumb in my mind... I think they could have gotten a deal with someone else with less restrictions, it's pretty frustrating that Activision has this kind of control in how Bungie manages their resources.

You don't need more than 5% of your studio working on a game that you are shooting to release in ten years...

Let’s have some meaningful discussion for once shall we.

Oooohhhhhh shiny, reading through the contract it doesn't seem as bad as the microsoft one was as for only ten people working on a game well ten people can make an awesome game especially one that has an established background.

Feel free to send me messages, please be willing to wait 6-8 years for a reply.

1-7 hours if you at least tried to make it readable.

Immediately if you are Yax, Telec, or legendary.

Never if you are mythic, you guys smell funny.

I am a little sad, i was hoping for some sort of creative adventure game, rather than just another FPS to add on to the smelly heap of the overdone genre.

This world wants to drag you down... And the weight, that guilt they want to hang around your neck, you don’t have to carry it one more step. You think they won’t let you rest, but it’s not up to them. It never was.

In what way do you mean? Activision's release schedule is much stricter than M$', maybe I'm missing something?

I apologize in advance for all the crappy jokes I make.

I don't like that Massively-Multiplayer thing.

I'm excited about the Marathon follow up, though.

I have to disagree, "Massively multiplayer style, sci-fantasy action shooter" doesn't sound to me like a boring, over-done shooter game. To me, it sounds more akin to unicorn dragon tiger shark.

It sounds to me like I'd rather just have Planetside 2 than be shaked for every nickel and dime I own.

Yay! Marathon will get the Duke Nukem Forever treatment! Great!

And it sounds to like just another Halo or another Crysis. if you want to keep faith in the shooting genre, that is fine, but I cannot see bungie redefining it again. I just want some change, I want to enjoy games that are not all about online "Shoot each other over and over". They should make a story driven game that focuses on individual experience, not a game that focuses on multiplayer, we have enough of those right now, im my opinion.

I do not think it will be a bad game, Its just something I personally think has been done enough.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I still want my MMO RPG FPS zombie game, freeroam.

Well I guess we don't need to wonder if there will be a sequel after playing the campaign (If there's a campaign). A quadrilogy. Interesting.

I miss playing Halo with my friends.

A game release every other year? Activision never fails to surprise me...

Here we go for another whored-out franchise.

  • 05.22.2012 11:45 AM PDT

It was known before now that Bungie also had a small team working on something else.

This contract stuff was pretty much what I expected though, aside from the Comet DLC.

Not even that. How many people do you think Bungie had working on Destiny while they were developing Halo Reach?

I was expecting it, really. It is Activision after all.

Personally I'd like to know what Activision was offering Bungie that EA or something wasn't.

I have nothing against MMO-like elements, but I feel that first person perspective games unneccesarily limit what developers can potentially do with the game.

The video game industry is slowly becoming a monopolized jumble and I have never heard of a quadilogy before.

But I also wonder if any of this info has changed with continuing negotiations and revisions of the contract?

I was also thinking, ODST only had 15 people who made it so a small, dedicated team can make it. I wonder how Marathon will be? There are so many technical issues that can be fixed from 18 years ago. I am hoping for a Marathon soundtrack, the music was always a cool, sci-fi techno/trance beat.

I miss Bungie having Microsoft as a publisher.

Many people say that "OMG MICRO$OFT IS ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY!!111. While that may be mostly true, at least Microsoft gave Bungie the time needed to make every game damn near perfect.

3 years was great.

One thing's puzzling me - how can they do a massively multiplayer shooter... on a 360? Surely it doesn't have the processing power?

The thing about Microsoft is that they knew Halo was going to give them the return they wanted no matter how long it took.

BUT, now Bungis has a totally new game that they not only have to compete with other games, but their former creation.

I think Activision is way more in it for the money than Microsoft. Microsoft is going to get money either way with having one of the most popular video game consoles and xbox live.

Fun fact: Bungie has been grossly under utilising the Xbox 360 CPU for years.
