#1 Legendary ODST Firefight Highscore

[UNINTELLIGIBLE > INSUBORDINATION(?)]

No information on Aerospace? It would be nice to see what's coming out of that sector.

It's definitely interesting to finally hear something about it. I hope it's worth the wait, until more information is released. Everything outlined seemed to be pretty basic to me, It'll be neat to see where all of this eventually goes in the future.

I'm sad to hear they're ditching the three year development cycle.

Assuming its real info I am surprised they will do a game every other year, but Bungie is a huge company now, it's not like they lack man power or experience to get it done.

This. With the amount of man power Bungie has, it's understandable that a game will be released every other year. Hell, Halo 3, ODST, and Reach were all released in the span of three years, so I have no problem with this.

I have pretty mixed feelings on this... I won't be able to give an actual opinion until more info is released, though. I'm pretty curious how much of an MMO is this going to feel like, though. Because all I keep thinking of is WoW and that would no translate well to a shooter. However, the possibility of getting that much more content that often for an MMO is splendid. Because anyone that plays WoW knows that anyone that is semi decent has been done with this tier for a long ass time and seeing new content quickly would be great.

I'm excited, but also wary. Can't wait to see more info.

"Possiable spoiler??" Possiable leakage.

It could be, we'll know soon enough about this, hopefully Bungie will disclose something, or just Activision just ruined the surprise Bungie had for us.

I'm sure Bungie doesn't enjoy bits of info coming out before they are ready to release it, but we already knew they were working on a whole new universe, multiple games and expansions where pretty much expected.

Well, you can be sure that they expected it. It's not like we already have mass threads on most of this information anyways already. The spreading of this article just isn't on bungie.net, it's all over the internet.

Not entirely sure why that's disappointing. I'm pretty sure that can be done due to the increased size of the company. If you're thinking it's due to some desire to milk the games with no desire toward quality, I'm less convinced that your idea holds better than my assertion.

The news about this apparent Marathon development is a shocker; I will take it with some skepticism but also will remain eager to hear more. Perhaps this is the continuation of (drumroll)... Phoenix?

Is it me, or did anyone else kinda get the feeling from that article that Bungie gave up its independence again..

The contract also gives Bungie the freedom to put five percent of its staff to work on a prototype for a new game referred to as "Marathon," with the team size allowed to grow after certain operating income. There are also rules governing how much of the company's staff can work on Bungie.Net, Halo Reach DLC and other projects.

They may have rules to abide to via contract. But they are not owned by Activision.

Right, I get that. It just seems like they are abiding by a lot of restrictions limiting what they can do outside of the Activision project -which is were I have issues concerning their 'independence' for the duration of the contract.
Let's look at what they're limiting:

The website (which I'm sure already had no more than 5% of the staff working on it), the marathon game (which, ideally, would be something they release down the line and, to be honest, even 5% of their staff working on something for a long time can make a pretty good product), and Reach DLC (which is no longer relevant).

I don't see a lot of rights being given away there.

That's hardly everything... Bungie also in the contract gives Activision the right to approve the hiring of replacements for 'key members' if they are terminated.

So if BUNGIE fires Jason Jones, Activision can find a replacement. I doubt Bungie will be firing any of its "key members".
