Is this article true? Apparently Bungie's contract with Activision was released because of the lawsuit with exInfinity Ward employees. Here is a direct link to the 27 page contract. I'm interested to see more about the game. I dislike 4 games and 4 expansions being planned already that are releasing 2013-2020. It seems like a little too much for a new IP that we know almost nothing about. Only 5% of Bungie can work on Marathon but that percent will increase with the success of Destiny. The contract also appears to confirm a new Xbox being released next year and a "PS4" being out by the time of the second games release of 2015.

I feel the opposite. I really like the fact that they have planned this new universe so far ahead (so would be fans don't complain over something like a 'Reach' game breaking canon).

There's no way Nate Hawbaker's favorite hero is Alan Stuart

ALAN IS A BEAUTIFUL MAN!

Reach did not break canon. Halsey Journal made it all fit together. And Halo when it was first made was never intended to be a trilogy or as long as it was. They are taking the steps with Destiny that 343i is taking with the Reclaimer Trilogy and plan canon out ahead of time to prevent any possible mistakes down the road that require a novel our bonus content to fix somehow.

I agree, Bungie said they were taking notes of all the comments and complains of all games plus the data they collected from H3, ODST and Reach to make a better game in their new universe.

So hopefully we'll see some improvements in the field were they didn't do so good.

No it doesn't. Afterall, this contract was made in 2010. MARCH/APRIL 2010. There's no way they could have known about when the next generation would come out. Only best estimates. Destiny #2 will be published for Xbox360 and it's successor, assuming the successor is out by then. There's no way they could know about the release of the next generation of consoles.

It's really unfortunate if true that they are only allowed to devote 5% of their staff to a marathon related project. I'm sure many of us would love to see another marathon title released, and at this rate it could be almost another decade before something like that is feasible.

After reading the article, that is what I'm aggravated about as well, because Activision is forcing them to only devote 5% of their staff on a new marathon related project. So my question is, why would they accept the deal with Activision when they are putting restrictions like this in place. There were so many other options for Bungie at the time, like the EA partners program or sign some kind of deal with someone else, I feel like they gave up a little bit of their freedom with this deal.

5% is still an ok amount of people with the size that Bungie is. Also as they reach certain profit milestones they can devote more people (10%, 25%) to the project as well. Your hatred for Activision slightly clouds you judgement as almost any company would make this kind of restriction on this big a deal. No one would want the dev putting more effort into a different IP then the one they are making for them.

Indeed, remember the developement crew has grown since Halo: CE, Bungie ranks have increased with more extraordinary people. Now they can afford to split a small division for side projects, just like they did with ODST and Reach.

Okay, first off, Marathon is only a code name. And yes it is true. And 2013-2020? Niether of those years has happend yet and you are already judging. Wow. And of course there is a new xbox and playstation coming out. I believe Destiny is only for xbox and the the other three are for both systems.

Destiny will start with Xbox but it will expand later to PS3 or newer version and PC.

I can't agree with this more. It has been a damn long while before anything new has been revealed or even any vidocs of what's going on that we can disect for clues. I do not feel any sorrow for this slight embarrassing leak because we all would have to wait until next month for details that might not even be there. So if something at E3 cool then the leak was not needed at all, but if we get shafted at E3 I'm sure as hell glad that something was leaked because I know I would begin to become annoyed at the lack of anything there-of.

Indeed, sometimes things are way beyond control. I hope we can see something at E3 or atleast in Bungie day.
