Why did Bungie forsake Halo in general? The reason I heard was they wanted to make different games for whatever reasons.

I don't fully understand though.

They had it all.
-good franchise
-amazing developing team
-big community
-etc

Once they gave up on Halo they gave up on everything. Yes, 343i is carrying the legacy but it'll never be the same as it used to be. The Halo I once knew.

Walk by faith. Dude. Not by sight.

343 always owned it. Bungie didn't like not having total creative control.

Contract with Microsoft.

It's not a big deal anyway OP. Bungie practically gave fans the middle finger with lolReach. Im glad Microsoft showed them the door.

This. Reach was pretty much sabotaged.

A few minor improvements from H3 (if you could them that) but mostly a downgrade from the trilogy, supposedly a return to CE but I've found more CE in H3. Plasma pistol, vehicle health, fall damage, pistol with scope. These are not the same.

Regarding vehicle health and fall damage, they were not made compatible with H2/H3. They were just thrown in there. That means when an Elite boards your tank, you're screwed. That means you're limited in your approaches (though I don't mind the damage. That can be reduced by crouching. I just don't like the unavoidable stun from fall damage).

Regarding the weapons,

The plasma pistol bolt was quite powerful. But the overcharged bolt was near useless. In exchange for better homing and faster charging speed, it lacks the killing effectiveness and effective range of CE.

A scope and higher rof doesn't make a Halo pistol (though they help). It's the accuracy and stopping power (doesn't necessarily have to be a god pistol. H3's pistol could stun AI, ODST's pistol did decent flesh damage). The Reach pistol was mostly detrimental and was evidently designed with Bloom in mind (no Bloom = broken pistol).

I think the obvious reason is to start a new series with full controll, and to make a little cash in the tranfer

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

From what I know and believe, Bungie was done making Halo games at Halo 3, but they were contractually obligated to make a last one before leaving Microsoft, made Reach with lost of flaws, and tried to turn part of the fanbase against Microsoft.
However, I don't know this to be a fact or not.
