A contract has been posted online, apparently the contract between Bungie and Activision, stating among other things, that their next game will be a "massively multiplayer action shooter experience with persistent online elements". Don't get your panties in a bunch, that is the same legal documentation reference as Halo: Reach and Call of Duty.
Massively just means a massive amount of players connected to the main servers. (or at least it tends to mean that on consoles. Bungie may have chosen to go the World of Warcraft route, but somehow i doubt that. In the contract it further says that project "Destiny" will be released in the fall of 2013, on xbox and possibly xbox's successor, with a possible port for ps3.
-In the fall of 2014, that game will get a sizeable digital content extension.
-Fall 2015 is the timeframe for "Destiny" 2, on xbox 360, xbox's successor, and playstation 4.
-Next year, that game is planned to also get a sizeable digital content extension.
This cycle is hopefully continued until Bungie has released in total four games and a digital expansion to each of them, over a ten-year period (three years to make and release game one, then one release every year, alternating digital content and new game). Not sure if I am allowed to post a link to the article here, but i'm styaing on the safe side for now and i'll say that to read the 27 pace contract, you'll have to search on the web pages of L.A. Times, on articles posted May 21.
So what do you guys think? Does the contract seem legit?
If so, will that mean that a showing at E3 is a sure bet?
