If good looks could kill, I'd be a weapon of mass destruction.

Q: Hey, what did Hitler say to the black jew?
A: Get to the back of the oven.

Definitely Johnson and Miranda.

And the supposed death of the Chief was pretty emotional too.

Will no one think about the guilty spark?!

:(

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Kurt, Nylund crafted his character beautifully in Ghosts of Onyx.

Sif, the development her relationship with Mack received in Contact Harvest was actually one of the more detailed and emotional parts of the Halo universe as a whole.

343 Guilty Spark, mainly because Bungie treated him like some kind of joke between Halo CE-3 when actually there was an extremely deep and emotional backstory to him which Kevin Grace beautifuly exploited in CEA's Terminals.

Johnson.

Jeez, I completely forgot about Mac and Sif. One of my favorite subplots of Contact Harvest.

*facepalm* But worse, I forgot to put Guilty Spark on the poll. Ugh...

Johnson's death. It was emotional after playing through Halo 3 very late at night for the first time.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Straight from the wandering mind of Watson 203

Lighter Than Some - I freaking love the Huragok for no known reason. I like the way that one was given a character and backstory and an ability to communicate with Dadap and so the reader, which, made it all the more emotional when he/she(?) dies.

Mack and Sif - Two rampant AI's who fell in love and die together after one denying it for so long. Most romantic moment I know of in Halo canon. A good way to end the book.

Kurt 051 - Legendary death for a legendary person, just as good a Spartan II as John 117. I found Kurt more human than a lot of the other Spartans, II's or III's.

Jacob Keyes - Man was a legend, brilliant tactician and damn good at what he did. He stood out even in death, fighting the proto-gravemind as it assimilated him and stole his thoughts and memories.

Gage Yevgenny - "It's not just dirt, it's our dirt."

Jonah & Roland - I liked the way the two interacted, they made a good pair and in Headhunters they showed why they got chosen for the position.

Preston Jeremiah Cole? - I'll just let that sit with you.

I could go on...

Johnson. Even though the cause of his death was sort of stupid (IMO) the mood was set excellently in the cutscene.

That one marine who died on that level in one of the games.

Hanger one I just shredded with the SMGs until ammo was out and I just threw 'nades like a boss while BRing.

My experience playing Cairo Station on Legendary

I'm giving this one out to the Prophet of Mercy. I mean, he was betrayed by his brother and left to die by the hands (Rather mouths) of the Flood.

Jorge had a pretty close second, he would have won if it weren't for the fact that we barely got to know him.

1. Johnson. For obvious reasons.

2. Guilty Spark. The Forerunners should have provided him with a companion... you can't blame him for what he did. They weren't gods and neither was he.

Also, appearing in the trilogy = long enough to get acquainted with/flesh out the character

3. Jacob Keyes. CE sure had a long campaign.
4. Foehammer. CE sure had a long campaign.
5. Prophet of Mercy. Betrayed, abandoned, but still maintaining his belief in the Great Journey. He was victim of Truth's lies.
6. Jorge
7. Kat (she's the only Noble Team member other than Jorge who could get kills with her preferred gun. This is the only reason why I sympathize)

Mirinda or Johnson. Noble team was good, but it just wasn't as compelling as anything from H3.

^ Funniest thing I've read all day.

Anyways I gotta go with Forge. He took out an enemy infinitely his greater, like a baws. Told that Spartan to scram, like a baws. And went down taking an entire planet with him, like a baws

St Johnson for me, because he was my favorite character since CE. I will not lie when I say I shed a tear for Foehammer.

  • 05.24.2012 11:48 PM PDT

Flipyap! Never forget!

But seriously, Kat's death really drove home how brutal the war is, and how not everyone would go out in a blaze of glory.

For me, some of the more emotional deaths were from books. Especially Fall of Reach. You really get to know a lot of those Spartans pretty well. For Sam's death and I want to say James floating off into to space was pretty rough. Those really got the ball rolling for the rest of the people who were lost throughout the series.

This.

And lol why would you even list noble team, they were all horrible characters, how are their deaths supposed to be emotional?

052. What I absolutely hate is the lack of back story for the characters in Noble Team. They needed more screen time.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Kat.

There is a thin line between insanity and genius, i would put myself right in the middle and i enjoy every second of it.

For me it as Noble Six... Could you imagine watching your last ally die and then having the fate of humanity put on your decision? The way he looked at the ship and denied the ride gave him so much respect from me... I can just imagine in those few momments what he was thinking... "Theres no way we will make it off this planet... It must be done." and just like that, he saves the POA from distruction... Even if Chief saved humanity, without Noble six... There would be nothing to save. And he died with honor, and not giving up until stabbed by an elite... Not only that, he went down in a manner where he took off his helmet as if "Theres no stopping this." He fought until he couldn't anymore and thats what a spartan TRULY is... a war machine and a savior. He was both.
