Subject: So, about E3 2012 and Bungie...

Hey there. As you may or may not have heard, Activision recently dropped a bombshell in the form of publicly releasing the contract that they had formed between themselves and Bungie. In this contract, it was revealed that Bungie's next game, Destiny, is set to come out in the Fall of 2013.

This bit of information has only validated my suspicions that Bungie is planning on teasing Destiny at E3 2012. If you'll notice, with all of their recent games, Bungie has first teased us with a trailer at E3 the year prior to the game coming out. I expect Destiny to be no different.

However, this brings up an excellent question: When and Where at E3 would they show off this trailer? With Halo, Bungie was owned by Microsoft, so it made sense for them to show it off during Microsoft's main Presentation. Since that isn't the case anymore, I'm not exactly sure where it will pop up.

I mean, as the first Destiny Game is supposed to be an Xbox Exclusive, I could see them still presenting the trailer during Microsoft's main Presentation (the exact date and time of which I don't believe has been determined), but then again it might also make sense for them to show it off at an Activision Presentation (assuming they get one of those, I've only ever payed attention to the Microsoft and Nintendo Presentations).

This is important, as E3 Week is also my Finals week, and I'd rather not be spending all of my videogami- er... studying time watching five different E3 Streams and constantly refreshing the forum list for the first signs of a Destiny information.

Anyone have any bright ideas?

They will be with Activision. Activision has booked 3 booths, one of which could be Bungie. Oh and I do believe they will show something this year.

I imagine that if it is just a teaser then they would present it with Activision. They don't have enough for their own presentation, so they would just tag along with the publisher.

We will not see them this year, or they could just be pulling another of Bungie's jokes.
Fall 2013 is the expected release date according to the contract, not the reveal. It's highly likely we'll see it at E3 in my opinion.

I don't imagine that this is a "Booth" sort of deal. Not that I'm an expert, but Booths are where they have playable demos of the game for press and other attendees right? I can't imagine that Bungie is far enough along on Destiny for that sort of thing, and I can't imagine them renting out an entire booth just to perhaps show off a trailer and concept art.

No, I believe it will occur during a presentation if it occurs at all.

Bungie always releases a teaser one year prior to release, did you read the OP?

I feel that it is unlikely. The basic premise and the game's universe has likely been fleshed out by now, they have nothing to lose from revealing said premise in a trailer and waiting for hype to build for half a year before they start revealing more solid information on gameplay and game specs.

Look at Reach's Teaser Trailer. What did it tell us? Not much beyond "This game occurs during the Fall of Reach" and "You will likely play as a team of Spartans". It still got people crazy hyped.

Who the hell do you think I am?

I hope we get something from Bungie at E3. At this point I don't care what is it, just give us something to talk about.

I'd expect them to be with Activision.

I'm getting a feeling you don't know that much about advertising for a big budget game.

Anyway, revealing a game like Destiny at E3 2013 then releasing it in the Fall, which would be just one season away, would be idiotic. That would give hardly any time to get people hyped about the game. By the time the game would release word would have hardly spread about what the game was.

I will be satisfied with a teaser trailer for this year's E3 from Bungie.

Basically, this. The only other reasonable place to announce such a game would be TGS. Maybe PAX.

Maybe. It's not really PAX-style to do that, though.

Also, don't hate on the ~Quinton~ at the end of my posts. Why are you still reading this? #creeper #hashtagcashmoney for hashtaging on Bungie.net

I always expected for Bungie to do a 2013 release. Three years after Halo:Reach. That stays with their old dev cycle of three years.

A couple months back I remember posting in a thread. I hypothesized that they would do a 2012 E3 teaser, do something at the VGAs, then proceed to build hype in their usually way. It follows the typical Bungie pre release.

I believe the trailer may be similar to when they first showed of Halo. It is a whole new IP, they're going to want to give us more than a name. This will once again put them in the spot light.

I don't think you get it. Halo Reach was teased at E3 in 2009 and released in 2010. Halo 3 was teased in 2006 and released in 2007. Halo 2 at E3 2003 and released in 2004 and Halo CE originally at the Macworld presentation in 2000.

Bungie would be shooting themselves in the foot if they didn't show a teaser of some-sort this year. Whether it be E3, TGS, VGA's or PAX. However if they want to make the most noise for hype, E3 is the best place to do that.

Don't forget the fact that Achronos has already teased that the webteam is launching a new site update fairly soon. With that, my prediction is this:

>Bungie shows a teaser under Activision this year at E3
>If you're going to tease a game, usually you need a forum to discuss it.
>Sometime between June/July (maybe bungie day?) Bungie.net will be updated - Since you need a "Destiny Forum" to put all that talk into hyping up the game 1 year or more in advance.

As for Hyle's OP, I highly doubt they will be showing something under Microsoft at E3. Since they're separated with them, it's most likely with Activision. I have no confirmation on any of this, just pure speculation.

But haven't they shown off them Call of Duty games during the Microsoft Presentation before, despite those games being multiconsole and Activision?

I'm gonna try to be different and say Bungie will not announce anything at E3. And if they do, it won't be anything special, maybe a 30 second teaser/trailer that offers no tangible information.

If they announce anything, it will likely be an announcement trailer either in the Microsoft Press Conference and/or Activision Press Conference. The Activision Press Conference is usually held in a different spot and I haven't heard of one yet either.

Perhaps. I'm not entirely sure since it was a year or so ago. It's possible that Bungie does something with Microsoft or Activision's press conference though. I'd personally not expect it to be with Microsoft, but that's just me.

E3 would be the perfect time for a teaser, and I'd definitely expect something at the VGA's. Now is the time to get the hype train rolling, and it would click perfectly with past game reveals.

It would be nice if they announced something at E3.
