Burn Bright, Burn Blue. Become one of KOGU, the Fire of Pride!

I was playing Durandal today, and read through most of the terminals. One passage stuck: the gods (Forerunners?) that made us *Sph't and Sph't'Kr) wiped out with a flash of white (halo rings?) and destroyed all, but saved us in the paradise (shield world?) that we hepled make. They were vloodied with destruction and weeping for what they had done, but they saved us.
Another, mentioning that Sph't are cyberorganic, and non-sentient without their cybernetic portions. Also that without these implants at the moment of "The birthing," that they would be no more sentient that a Flik'ta. This set me thinking. Are Sph't'Kr, I believe, are engineers as they are known in the Halo series, or a different strain of them? Or are they a little known partially organic Sentinel, or Monitor? Also, if these Sph't, Phfor, etc. were on a shield world, saved by the Forerunners, when or how were they moved back to their homeworld/moon? I haven't seen an explanation for this in the Terminals. Also, a Tycho terminal specifically mentioned cyberneticly upgraded humans, which Tycho reffered to as "Mjolnir MK IV's." Early Spartans? This was time-dated at roughly 2001 AD, 551 years before Halo. This utterly lost me. I originally thought that it might be Spartans trapped in a shield world, but the intergalatic travel excluded this option. Is the link between Marathon and Halo really there? Is this just a collection of references, so weaved and twined that none know the truth? The secret lies within. Please, help me out here. How do Halo and Marathon LINK?

Um. It's long been confirmed that Marathon and Halo, while sharing certain thing in terms of names, are completely unrelated in terms of lore.

They are linked in trivia, like MJOLNIR Mark IV being the first real spartan armor. And other things, like Marathon class cruisers.

It's a weaving tale of easter eggs (I believe the marathon symbol is on the PoA?), but no real massive hidden lore connection.

This word confirmed.

The lore seems SO well knit. Term references hardly call for this much intricacy. I originally thought that the Ark sent Chief into Marathon, through time, and that one or all of the AI's were Cortana after Rampancy, as per Halo 3's legendary ending. I still have a bet on the 'last' Halo game leaving this option open. It just seems too good to be a chance fabrication.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Yeah...no, if Bungie was still making the games perhaps, but 343 took over. So, no.

I could have SWORN that it said 2001 AD on the terminal. But, my TC is small-ish and kinda sucks. I kind of think that the Halo universe is so massive that it split in twain. IE parralel universes. In one, Halo. in the other, Marathon. Their timelines and similiarities are just so good.
