H2PC doesn't work, or it sucks?

Ok, imagine this if you will, you just spend a crapload of $$$ upgrading your machine to Vista to play Halo2PC. You put in the CD, and it doesn't work, either because of a Vista bug, or a bad port. But if you're lucky enough to figure your way around it, and the game just blows. What would you do?

Me, I'd melt down the Halo2 box/CD/Manual into a little flaming ball of molten plastic, tie it to a brick and throw it through Bungies office window.

But, I really really hope Halo2PC rocks.

It sucks that you have to have Vista. I dont have a xbox, so i cant play H2. Theres no way in hell im upgrading my PC for one game. What about my other PC games? They wouldnt work on vista. So if i were you, dont get H2 for PC. If you dont have a xbox eather, then do what im doing: This Christmas im getting a 360, I'll just play H2 on that.

Also, your right, what if you do get it and it doesn't work?

I'm upgrading to Vista, probably going to be getting a whole new computer. Not just for H2, but because I want to be on the bleeding edge of computer technology for some of the new games coming out, like Crysis. OMG that looks sweet!

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I'd do the same. And no offense, but Windows is never "bleeding edge". It's mostly a hodge-podge of borrowed other-OS features that gets stale until the next release while other operating systems forge ahead daily.

guys...........

If u dont want to have all the -blam- bugs that come with Vista......just wait till they come out with the fix pack(s) (like Windows XP SP2). XP was -blam- before they came out with the fix packs and i am guessing Vista will be too.

I am going to wait a year before I buy Vista cuz they will most likely have at least one of the fix packs out by then.

But if u just cant wait.........I would suggest getting a Xbox 360. Then u will get to play H3 when it comes out. And it will cost u not too much more than Vist will ;)

I agree with above. I'll not only wait a month or 2 before getting vista, but will wait and see what people say in these forums about halo2.

See if you have to pay, see if its got some -blam!-ass matchmaking instead of dedicated servers, etc etc.

If its crap, I'll simply complain to bungie on these boards, maybe even send an email. no, they have never bothered about that before, but least I will have given them my opinion.

Halo PC was a great game, but so poorly made it beggers belief. Bungie are quite frankly f***ing morons for ever letting it be released in that state. Dont tell me they didnt playtest it and approve it at some point.

Hopefully, they have learnt. I will give good feedback if its due. Also to be seen, is how much support they continue to give it.

I'll upgrade as I've never owned any PC games so I won't be missing out on any old ones. Probably just get a new PC. I have a 360 and its cool as he11 but I realy want to try a PC game and the Map Editor. (isn't that what its called?)

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

I'm not going to be upgrading my PC to run Vista. Right now my PC can run it with Aero on with no problems. Any half decent gaming PC can run it.

All I will have to buy is Vista Home Premium and Halo 2 PC and I'll be set.

..........not neccessarily. Windows Vista is different from all of their other more modern Windows platforms (95, 98, 2000, ME, XP). They are doing what Windows 95 did to Windows 3.1. Windows 3.1 ran on a 16 bit system (correct me if I am wrong). When Windows 95 came out, it was in a 32 bit system. There is alot of difference in processing power. It was doubled......and that ment that the hardwere(?) had to be upgraded too. Alot. All of the systems since 95 have been in the 32 bit type system. Not anymore. Windows Vista will be a 64 bit system. That is double what XP is. That means that you must have a really good computer with a 32 bit front side bus (FSB) (at least) and an AMD 64 Athlon chip (dont buy any others. INTELL SUCKS!!!! Tho if u have a 32 bit chip it might do. Very skechy). Plus there is the issue of a *gasp* video card *gasp* That one is not quite worked out yet. You will at least need a AGP and might not even be able to run it on that. The real thing would be PCI Express. Those cards are somewhat faster (with information flow) than AGP and are cheaper to make. (still need to do more researching on PCI E in general)

But the point is: Even if u *think* you have a great computer right now, Vista will be the deciding factor on that.

So dont be so shure that your computer will run Vista. I am not even shure that mine will run Vista yet. There just isnt enough info on it. I will probably have to upgrade before i get the real "experience" as Micro$oft terms it.

Either way, M$ will $uck ur m0n3y 4nd g37 3v3n gr34d13r.

If you are really interested in finding out about your PC and Vista, just go to Microsoft's website and download VistaUpgradeAdvisor.msi . Install it and it will generate a report on your PC v's Vista.
The laptop I'm using at present fails, but that wasn't a surprise :-)

Good idea. I'm gonna have to try that on my PC when I get home, although, I'm sure my puny XP 2500+ is going to fail miserably.

If it sucks, I'm going to wait until H3PC.

I'm confident H2PC will be a decent, beautiful looking port. Besides, I'd get Vista anyway because with DX10 the future visuals of PC gaming looks bright. DX10>PS3's target videos.

Don't be hasty. DX10 is going to make H2PC look better than it would on Xbox but yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it did that. Besides, H3PC's graphics are the graphics that will truly pwn H3's graphics.

And don't double post, dude.

Couldn't have said it better myself :')

I've calculated, that to get my system prepped for the minimum requirements of Vista, it'll take around 130 dollars :P, Now to get my system prepped for Halo, which I'm assuming is going to take more then 866 MHZ of processor, well thats a whole new box were looking at, around 200 :P

Darn you bill gates!

Vista's a necessary upgrade...sooner or later, love it or hate it, we're all going to be on Vista machines if we want to play new games. And to be honest, it's well overdue...quite frankly, I'm tired as hell of using this outdated old XP.

Of course you can still run XP or earlier designed games on your Vista computer...OSs are backwards compatible, you know.

One other thing: Keep in mind that Vista's specs WON'T be that terribly high. Vista's gotta be able to run on laptops, of course, especially as portables take more and more of today's computer market. Laptop specifications aren't too high, but Aero Full's gotta be able to run on them. So while the reqs for Vista/Aero will be pretty high, it won't be so unbelievably high that only top of the line PCs nowadays will run.

Lucky for you all, I will be blazing ahead and getting Vista when it comes out. In fact I will be getting a Beta copy from somebody soon so I can play with it until it gets released. I'm also building a server using twin PIII processors to see how Vista works with that. It will eventually become the Bungie.net Maw HaloPC server when I switch the one I have now over to a Halo2PC dedicated server for the >Maw< clan.

Yay!

I'm already fairly good with the controller on Halo 2, but the world is going to shake when I play H2 with a mouse and keyboard. :P
