I remember those sarkathalons

  • 05.26.2012 6:11 PM PDT

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

I remember the Superintendent and CompoundIntelligence ARG.

The tide is turning, brothers! Let us take our kingdom back!

I really wish I'd been here for the IRIS campaign, that would've been my most cherished memory on here for sure.

But, just the times I've spent making friends on here is probably the most memorable part of Bungie.net.

A handful of years ago, the forums went broken. The only way I was able to communicate with the other people in The Flood was by using the subject line of topics. Im not entirely sure what happen, just remember not being able to reply to topics. I was banned for a month.

...or maybe that thread about Sandtrap having some massive secret. Anyone ever figure that out by the way?

Space. The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of Murphy's Laws on the StarShip Enterprise

Either that or my enthusiastic threads about my Great Journey armies. You'd be excited too if you could jump off of 60 Elites and watched them fight a giant Brute in cqc.

I remember getting a server key but nothing in the mail.

Still bitter.

The sound of iron shocks is stuck in my head, The thunder of the drums dictates
The rhythm of the falls, the number of dead's the rising of the horns, ahead
From the dawn of time to the end of days I will have to run, away
I want to feel the pain and the bitter taste of the blood on my lips, again

Hmm none of you were even here for the original. Which was alright at best.

This is an alt, gone permanent.

When I skipped from member to legendary, then a few months later hitting mythic, then the reaction from Dropship Dude. Priceless.
I think I was there for that, lol.

Best times were probably getting a Halo 3 Mythic Map code, or running the Halo Reach armor thread(s) - people really pulled together to constribute and I felt all appreciated :)

A few years ago, there was a thread posted in the Halo 3 forum in which the OP claimed to be the mother of a distraught player by the name of Elevant who wished to be unbanned.

I've never seen a larger collection of entertaining responses. Veterans, moderators, administrators...everyone was taking part in this hub of hilarity.

The most memorable thread I've witnessed on Bungie.net, without a doubt.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

Halo 3 days were good, Adjutant Reflex and the Halo 3 ARG was awesome.

HALO 2 were the good days.

I kept up with everything pretty steadily until I went on vacation for a week. When I came back, it was like everyone learned a new language and I was hopelessly lost.

Donuts > all other food

Way back a few years ago, there was a thread in the Halo 3 forum where something was being discussed, can't remember what.

Anyway, I made a post, and got heavily and unnecessarily flamed by this one ass, and a few minutes later, I got a PM from some other person, it went something like this:

"Hey, I saw what that other guy said to you in that thread in the Halo 3 forum, and even though it was not me, I want to apologize. You didn't deserve that at all. If you ever want a nice person to play some Halo with, feel free to hit up my gamertag."

Was really blown away. Felt really good c:
Will probably never forget that.

OP - You're a dumbass with the reading comprehension skills of a second grader.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

The day I got Recon on Halo 3 before it was publicly released. Suddenly, inbox filled for days.

I had a similar experience here back in Halo 3.

Had the same type of thing happen in MM. HORRIBLY laggy game, my team could do nothing, got trounced and venomously, verbally abused by 2 of the other team. I received a message from another one of their players shortly after, apologizing for his friend's atrocious behavior. I recognized the name from B.net, but I doubt he knew me at that time.

That isn't my best experience here though. Those are reserved to a private group I call home. Just goes to show, there are some really stand up people here.

...or maybe that thread about Sandtrap having some massive secret. Anyone ever figure that out by the way?

I seem to remember Bungie actually commenting on it in a weekly update or something.
They said the secret of Sandtrap is in the Hieroglyphics, the Hieroglyphics strewn about Sandtrap arnt just random, its an actual language (made up by one of the staff) that tells a hidden story.
Not sure if anyone worked out what the Hieroglyphics meant though...or if my memory is lying to me.
